they don't bother me personally, but the issue is a 2 sided debate between those that want censorship and those that don't. the only reason i suggested my idea was to suggest a possible way of giving both sides what they want to try to cater to everyone's wishes at once.

It has been a while since I registered here, but I thought you have to verify that you are over the age of 13 to join. Most are like that, at least...

The best idea, aside from leaving it as-is, would be to make it an option in the User CP to turn censoring off, but by default make it censored, and also make it censored for unregistered viewers. That way one would have to explicitly (no pun intended) turn it off to view the naughty words.

Regardless of whether it remains the same or not, the excessive use of profanity is always against the rules.

I would love to see some more "bad" words around here, not because I am a weirdo but because I can be mature about them enough to know I don't need to create a post full of them.

I curse (or 'swear' this side of the pond) a lot when talking to friends, sometimes every other word out of my mouth could be something that is typically censored here. But If you have noticed, it's rare I say anything that's worth getting censored on here because I respect the rules and other members. I will admit a few of my posts have multiple censored words, but you can't really say I go over the top. The majority of the censored words in my posts are the ones you learn before the age of 10 so I consider them in my normal vocabulary.

If the censorship around here was relaxed, I don't think it would be a bad thing. People don't have to come here to learn bad words and I don't think people could say we would be encouraging it.

Exactly. We've all seen the random new person come in, get angry at mods, and then go out in a huge curse storm before being banned. I don't want to actually have to read all the **** they say every freaking time it happens.

For normal members, every once and a while, it's fine, but even if a regular abuses it it can get a tad annoying.

The only bad part is I know it used to filter out urls as well, which resulted in some broken links/images. Does anyone know if it still does that?

There are already a few words that aren't censored, such as sh*t(sometimes), bitches, and a few others.

I don't really care about censorship because I can tell what the ****'s are.

I think it'd be abused a little too much. As I do agree that something here and there doesn't hurt anyone, I'm sure people will go overboard. Especially with constant new members that post here.
