What version of PS do you have?

Also, when you are resizing a picture, scale it down. I'm not exactly sure but I believe it's EDIT>TRANSFORM>SCALE or something along those lines.

I have like... have Ps Cs3 but trial version but I can't figure it out... So I spend 11$ for Photo bucket to get there "geek" tools.

My sisters boy friend has Ps Cs2 and might send it to me, but until then... It's photo bucket for me :-/

When resizing, hold the Shift button. It will keep the pixel ratio.

Or just use the Image Size option in one of the drop down menus? Much easier imo.

But then you can't play with the position of the image at the same time... plus I prefer the hands-on approach rather than just typing a number in.

Same here. It's a lot easier when you can see the image size and adjust accordingly rather than guessing how it will turn out after you type in the new image size.
