Couldn't resist, downloaded it last night and played for 40 minutes. Enjoyable so far, probably play for another 2 hours today before I leave for the weekend. I enjoy these old school games so there's a chance I'll play it through.
I beat the game on more than one occasion. I worked my ass off to get Knights of the Round and all the final limit breaks. I still have the PsOne version but I am thinking about buying it for my ps3 since it was released on the Playstation store.
I wanted to get the knights but the chocobo breeding was so frustrating.
I got so pissed off. I hate those side quests in ff7.
I did what they said I should but never got the black chocobo.
Anyway ff7 is very easy( the main story). There is only one boss that was difficult, Red Dragon in the temple of ancients.
They really should make the battles of the next ff like the battles of ff7-8-9.
ff12 sucked so much.
And they should put a difficulty level for the bosses.
I replayed ff7 a few month ago and it was a piece of cake.
go to Wutai when you are still weak, makes the battles a lot of fun.
One thing: Don't level up too much, that way the battles are more challenging.
At first the battles are just wait for the guy to hit and hit back until you find harder enemies.
I think ff8 is harder.
Well i just hit gold saucer on disc one and got cait sith on my team, i have cloud barret and red 13 as my main crew and they are all at level 21 is that pretty good so far or do i need to desperately level up before i stand a chance against the weapons and also sephiroth?
Just keep playing, that's the beauty of it. If you find yourself struggling, stop and level up a bit. It's not rocket science here!

If it takes the last drop of your blood, I'll drive your demons away. I'll kick them in the bollocks and spit on them when they're down and then I'll be gone back into darkness, leaving only a nod and a wink and a wisecrack. I walk my path alone... who would walk with me?
I really can't believe how much time I've put into this game in the past day. I just got my first chocobo if that tells you how far I am, and I think I'm close to level 19. Only thing I don't like is that I feel this game could go on for an eternity which isn't a bad thing.
I really wish games nowadays would take as long to beat as this one lol then some of the games coming out would actually be worth buying. Otherwise spending 8 bucks to rent the game and beat it is worth it.

Unfortunately game structure these days means a 5-8 hour single player and then mutliplayer and nothing else. It's why I like games like Oblivion, Diablo, and Fallout because the replay value is so high, you feel like you bought a game that was worth way more than $60.

This game, as well as any other game for that matter, is structured so that you start off slow and increase in strength and skill as the game progresses. I'm the only gamer in my group of friends except for one other person, and both of us didn't use any codes or cheats to get through the game. As long as you take your time and level up by going through a lot of battles, then you should be fine.
If you want to, you can equip weapons that level up your materia faster even if it means your strength or other skill levels won't be as high as they could be. Some weapons have double growth, which means that the exp points you get for that particular battle will double, which will allow you to level up your materia skills faster.
And... you might want to look out for the Knights of the Round materia to help you with tougher enemies and bosses. Just find a tutorial that will tell you *specifically* how to find the right chocobos in the right areas for breeding.
Good luck and have more fun than you're already having :)
Oh i could play this game forever and not get bored, its that good of a game.
I was playing saturday and i started to notice some things, and im just spit balling here but when i went to nibelheim when i was just trying to get vincent in my party and i walked into town and noticed a couple of black cloaked people walking around in almost each one of the houses. Now if this is a stupid thing to ask dont be to harsh cause im just curious because i had not reached this point in the game before. Are the cloaked figures supposed to be the remnants that appear in AC? And also is there any relation to the amount of black cloaked figures in this game and the 13 cloaked figures in KH2?
It's close to 3am and I just beat Sephiroth. Wasn't much of a fight. I was lvl 76 with Cloud when I got to him, and my main party consisted of red 13 and Cid. Red 13 died once but I revived him pretty quickly. Didn't use Knight of the Round either. My final thought is that this game is mind blowing for something made 12 years ago. Definitely one my favorites of all time.
I'm about to do some runs of the classic final fantasies... you know, when nintendo owned them... so was wondering if anyone could find me a famicom disk system emulator that works, or if there even is one.

About 55 hours, I got all the characters and ultimate weapons and that's it.
I always tell people to try and keep the levels of your characters higher then is recommended and I had beat the game dozens of times and never had knights of the round table i always used omnislash ( I believe thats what it is called its clouds final limit break) and to pay attention and try to plan ahead.
