Yeah, my brother told me about this upcoming patch a few hours ago... I think I will be optimistic for the moment, and give them the benefit of the doubt, seeing as how I've been having fun with the game as of late.
Supposedly, this is what's supposed to be done on Monday:
Patch 1.41 will be deployed 2am on Monday, March 9th in preparation of the upcoming release of SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation in Europe. In addition to synchronizing all players with the European release, the 1.41 patch includes the following changes:
XMB presence - Medley Game information has been abbreviated, displaying all information required to identify the location of the player.
Late Join 'Hitch' improvements - addresses the pause experienced by players when someone late joins a game.
Navigating Screens With Large Clans – slow down issue fixed
Increased speed of fade at the beginning of the round.
Quick Match -
Increased countdown timer in Quick Match Pre Game lobby from 20 to 60 seconds.
Enabled Quick Match team switching.
Ranked, Unranked and Unranked Respawn games, each contains 6 different playlists: 3 8vs8 and 3 16vs16 players.
Claymores can now be detonated when player is in the prone position
Note: So where did 1.40 patch go? The 1.40 was intended to support the European release, we combined the 1.40 and the 1.41 together to speed the deployment of the above fixes.
This'll probably be the last we hear from them. I bet they just want to delude europeans into thinking they won't be as diasappointed as the rest of the world. I think I'll buy the game anyway because most of my friends are happy enough to endure it.
I hope the fade at the start of the round is really as short as I hope it is. I haven't played this game in almost two weeks, but if the lag is gone I might give it a second chance.

Omg omg omg omg. These are some of my only "major" complaints I have anymore of Socom, and if these get fixed, without completely ruining the game with something else, I will be very happy.
Well, the brightside is that they're still supporting this title, regardless of how many people aren't playing it.
Oh my jeebus baby Killzone 2. I heart you.
Dude, plenty of people are still playing the game even though you might not be playing it anymore. I'm just wondering what it's going to be for you next after the KZ2 love affair cools off.
Like I've said, I seriously enjoy this game. If they fix the annoying fade and lag (the lag i've experienced is actually pretty minimal) then I might be in love, no lie.
Personally, I think this newest patch has worked well so far... from what I have seen after playing for a bit this morning, rooms start up much easier than they did in the past, the annoying "black smog" doesn't last as long when the rounds do start up, and claymores can actually be detonated from the prone position.
I attempted to play earlier, and for the most part I didn't notice any lag except that it took my mic like an extra 5 seconds to activate so I could talk. I like that they fixed the xmb so you can see what game your friends are in. As for the fade, they must have reduced it by half a millisecond. Overall it did seem a little more fluid.
Anyone having a problem with dead people killing them because their gun doesn't stop shooting. Keeps happening, and I don't get it because it's like people's guns have auto aim when they drop. And damn I wish they said you could shoot through objects now that's gotten me plenty.
The fade to and from black (beginning and end) isn't a bad idea, it's just executed poorly. What they should've done was make it so that you can't do anything until the screen clears up, and then the timer starts (instead of the timer starting when you're still blind for 5-15 seconds, don't remember the length 'cuz haven't played in awhlie).

When I was still playing that was a problem I always encountered with anyone using a light machine gun. I didn't mind it though, I thought it added a bit of realism. Afterall, you always see in the movies those guys that go down shooting.
