Easy, The Show. 2K9 shouldn't even be considered a real game.
Agreed... I've sworn off all 2K Sports baseball games after they managed to lay two stinkers on the gaming community, in the form of MLB2K7 and MLB2K8.
Agreed... the only thing that I like even slightly more than The Show would have to be the batting controls in 2K9. Don't know what it is, but just pressing a button to swing the bat feels slightly outdated to me...
Without a doubt "The Show" for the ps3 is better than 2k9 for the ps3 allthough 2k9 makes the better commercials (lincecum/big unit funny as hell). last years version of 2k8 was a complete failure and this season didnt get any better. the game play is really smooth online when your opponent also has a good connection which is unusually often. turn the crappy guess pitch off, change it to HOF level and turn the strike/hot zones off and you got a real baseball game on your hands.
Why is that crappy? You think that the athletes who play the game aren't up there at the plate thinking about what pitch could be thrown at them next, during a given pitch sequence?
Personally, I think that's a great option to have in the game.

I will agree that the simple X to swing is getting outdated, but the stick swing on 2K9 was awful. I'll stick with the button instead of the stick for now, until the show puts it in their games.
That's another thing I like about the show too, you have new controls, and then classic controls. For me the "new" baserunning controls are bad and I mess up a lot while using them, while the "classic" controls are far easier to use and controlling the baserunners is smoother. Same for pitching. I usually use the meter, but just to change things up it's nice to go back to the classic pitching controls.

How was it awful? Seemed to me like you have a thousand times more control, as to which direction you want to hit the ball towards... The Show's batting seems like it's a thousand times more random.

And if you play with it off are you still not guessing what pitch is coming??? in fact when its off you actually play real baseball by guessing the real way instead of relying on your strikezone to light up red when you guess right not to mention it doesnt happen in real life were you see a floating strike/hot zone box that flashes red when guessing right. i think they put that option in so kids and people who dont want to sit there and watch the actual ball come out of the pitchers hand to make your decision. try it once and you will see what i mean also turn off the strike zone and hot zone. makes for a real fun and competitive game.

No need to get all aggro over it... different strokes for different folks, I suppose. I just like knowing where the ball actually is within the confines of the videogame representation of beisbol. At least they made it better than last year's batting... seems more responsive, yet not as refined as 2K9's batting.
