Well I realized something about body armor in the past two days, and I think it might help some people out. So when I started playing this game I was using a medium top and and light bottom. I was doing pretty well for myself, but I thought I needed to move faster so I switched to light top and light bottom. After a month of this doing this I felt like I took a step back in my play, so yesterday I went back to the medium top and light bottom and I only carry one thing of grenades to help with the speed. In the past 25 games I've had about 15 mvps, which is about twice the amount I was getting with the light setup at the same rate. To me the light armor is crap; at least the top is. Maybe if you're sniper you can roll with it, but seriously if you're running and gunning you're fairy without some armor. With the setup I got going right now I'm plenty fast, and just being able to take a couple extra shots does wonders.
Well, with the different game modes, I don't think it's possible to have a strategy that fits every situation.
So, by "deployment approach", I mean "how you advance on the map regardless of the game mode".
Some key positions on the map are key positions, no matter what game mode. Methods to get to them are also similar, no matter what game mode.
Thanks for stating your preferences!
I take it you are a sniper. Do you play alone or do you have someone else to cover your six?
How do you avoid counter snipers on the roof?
The thing is with socom, if you had the skill then any position could be lethal. There are choke points and major traffic areas and the usual camp spots that people use on every map, but you can't focus on just one spot or go there every single time anyway, the other team would catch on and pwn you.
To the bolded: Nobody covers a snipers' six. IMO, that's a waste of a person on your team who could be somewhere else killing people. If you're not aware enough as a sniper to watch your surroundings, don't snipe. And how do avoid counter snipers? You snipe them....

You avoid counter snipers by using places that aren't obvious sniper positions. Go to that tree that you've never used and see if it's a good spot. Even the spots that would seem horrible to snipe from (like right in the middle of a path with no cover at all) can be the best sniping spot becuse no one would think someone would be dumb enough to use it. Also, don't stay in one spot the whole time. People will realize that their buddies are getting killed in one area, so no one will want to go there. It also helps keep you hidden. If you move from one place to another after every (insert number here) kill(s), then it makes it harder for those counter snipers to find you. But, one of the best ways to avoid them, is with camoflouge. Finding cover that matches the color of your guy helps a great deal in staying undetected. If you're dressed in black, then hiding in grass isn't the best idea. So, look around for the good spots that not many use, try to find the ones that match your colors, and try to set up different areas that you can move to quickly, without exposing yourself too much. Also, always be on the look-out for any movement. This will help in getting you more kills (because you're not looking at one place all the time), and it will help in finding the counter snipers, and killing them. If you can't get a shot off, tell your buddies where he is, and seriously think about moving. If you can see them, chances are that they can see you. Either wait for them to show their pretty little head, or move and try to find them again.
EDIT: OTTER is a lie.
