at this point i wish this game didnt have the socom name in it. this game was meant to revive the socom series, bring back the good times but its failed. Sony has been careless giving such a big series to a bunch of untested donkeys that cant programme and fix issues if their life depended on it. The sad thing is, these clowns set their own release dates, kept creating new deadlines for the game but couldnt achieve their own standards. They made their goals, re-adjusted them but still released a half assed game. MAG has destroyed SOCOM imo..zipper could do much better than this. That monkey Seth deserves to be fired, and slant six shouldnt make a ps3 game again...go back to psp, ps3 game development is beyond their ability.
Btw while this game isnt good at the moment, it has potential to be a great game in the future. But its inexcusable to release a game that is really in beta
It's not THAT bad. I played tonight after the latest patch, and it's pretty tolerable.
Don't get me wrong though, this game is still far from being finished. I just hope they keep tweaking it based on community feedback. If that happens, then in the future there'll be no mistake about what we want out of a Socom.
It sucks it's in such piss poor shape, but I'm glad it is. The community response coupled with all of the negative reviews will hopefully put a complete and utter end to the tradition of sh!tty Socoms.
I also wouldn't be so quick to praise MAG or Zipper. MAG we know little to nothing about, and Zipper's burned us at least twice as many times as Slant Six has with Socom. Zipper took months to issue patches and had no communication with the community. Slant 6 has put 4 patches out already (counting the beta) and does a fine job of keeping in touch and taking our feedback seriously.

I wish the game would have been better at release as well, but at least they care. Zipper went more than a year without an update, more than once. Not a patch, and update to let us know they were working on the game at least.
well also remember were not talking about a ps3 title, Zipper was working on the ps2 versions where last gen consoles rarely got patched if at all. As easy as it is this gen, any dev would have patched the game up this quickly more or less. Theres also no excuse not to either heh.

I hear ya but i have to disagree, i happen to like this game a lot. the only thing that i find terrible is that 16v16 is unplayable and the major lag when there is multiple people loading in and out of the game. i havent played enough after the patch to see if they fixed the big rooms but im about to get on and test it for myself right now. hopefully by the time i am done learning the smaller maps the bigger ones will be playable. oh and the graphics are absolutely sick especially on my 60 inch sony hi def with surround sound :)
i love how people who have a problem automatically assume everybody else's game has not worked properly. i've not had a single problem before or after the patch, and im pretty sure this game has revived socom. its not the remake of socom 2 with better graphics a lot of us would like maybe, but the game runs very smoothly and is as close to socom 2 as you can get.
and as for game reviews, how about you play a game based on YOUR score instead of letting other people tell you if a game is good? idk my thoughts
The people at IGN should stop crying and go bake a cake or start a garden out in their front parking lot. There's lots of other stuff to do in life than give games bad reviews.
It should come as no surprise to anyone that IGN is quick to hand out sh**ty reviews... so why should they stray from the norm, and just "give" Confrontation a good review? I've said it before, and I'll say it again... if I based all of my game purchases from an IGN review, I wouldn't have ever played all of the sleeper hits that I have actually played over the years.

Same thing I have been thinking all along... can't wait to see how laggy Sony's network gets once this game launches. To be honest, the entire concept of this MAG game just sounds like a total pipedream. Hell... that game would probably even lag somewhat badly on Xbox Live, if I had to take a wild guess.

I just wish devs would stop making FPS games with no single player modes. At least then theres still reason to buy/play a game. I wanna shoot some AI controlled terrorists using the confrontation engine, which is what even prompted me to buy SOCOM 1 in the first place.

I don't think Confrontation runs on the same engine that Socom 1 did, back in the PS2's heyday. I could have sworn that I heard Slant Six used the same engine that they came up with for the PSP build of the Socom series.

well yea but i mean like the SOCOM gameplay . Killing terrorists on the demo is the main reason why i bought the first one, screw the online and AI headset controll. The confrontation engine is very similar, and its not bad, so i would aslo like to kill some Ai terrorists with it.

If I wanted four player co-op terrorist hunt, I would still be playing either one of the Rainbow Six Vegas games. Slant Six should just be smart, and stick with the formula that made Socom a great game in the past (before Socom 3, of course)... only now, the only sh**ty element of previous Socom games is gone, which I think is Zipper's presence.

I'm sick of hearing about "how bad sony's servers are". Warhawk wasn't bad after release, and they all ran on sony servers. Resistance? That game had a whole buttload of effects, and 40 players on screen at once WITH a lot of respawning, and it still played as smooth as a baby's bottom. Don't get me wrong though, I'm with all of you who think that MAG isn't going to be really playable with 256 people in the game at once.
Also, I'm not all that disappointed with Confrontation. It is a HELL of a lot better than RSV2 was at launch, and Leagues better than MGS 4 was both during the beta and after release as far as stability goes. Don't get me wrong, it's no where near a completed game, but a 4.5/10? Come on, seriously now. 6.5 AT LEAST.
Then again, I've never really been a fan of the /10 or /100 grading levels anyway. I'm all for the system that X-play had set up, it's much more accurate in terms of how you should view games.
