This is about the dumbest thing that I have seen posted around here in weeks... which says a lot, because I see thousands of posts over the course of a few weeks.
not really, as the key phrase there is mass renting. I said theres nothing wrong with renting games, as even i do from time to time, but there are more cheapskates that subscribe to sites like gamefly and rent over 60 games a year, and people who use netflix and blockbuster to merely copy dvds than others. id post the statistics but i had read it about two months ago, so i probably wont find it.

thats like almost every game that comes out so i dont see that as an excuse. Blame the casual gamers for the devs making games too easy nowadays. L ike i said nothing wrong with renting games in moderation, but when people are saying things like "why buy games jsut get a gamefly" somthing is wrong.

... but when people are saying things like "why buy games just get a gamefly" something is wrong.
Like what? That's supposed to automatically mean that they're pirating games? I don't buy your theory for a second... it's called simple math. For those who want to play an a**load of games, but can't afford $60 a pop for all of the games they want in a given year, the natural decision is to go the "Gamefly route".
12 games wanted in a given year x $60 each = $720 (taxes not factored) for the year's worth of games that someone wants.
1 year subscription to Gamefly? $15.95 or $22.95 per month, depending on your preference. That comes out to $191.40 or $275.40 per year.
Seems like simple enough math to me... and I'm not even a fan of math.

I didnt say anything about pirating games, and were defeintly not talking about acouple of rented games per year, as i was stressing mass renting. Basically saying there are a shitload of people who are renting 60+ games per year, and im sure as hell included in that 60 were games that they enjoyed the hell out of but were content renting them instead. You dont have to explain to me why renting saves money, but im saying that there are waaaay too many cheapskates renting games that they love(along with the ones they dont), when they normally would have bought them instead.

Well, then maybe you should have been more specific than saying "something is wrong" with utilizing a service like Gamefly. Seemed to me like you were heading in that direction with your blanket statement.
oh not at all, i was talking about the gaming community in general, not pirating.
But It actually stemmed from seeing so many people on forums that advocate getting a gamefly account for all games, rather than buy the games they love, and along with the article i read a couple months ago to back that up, it just makes me sick.
Even around where I live there are cheap bastards who rent basically all their games, and then call people stupid when they purchase them. It happens more often than not too.

But if you rent a game, aren't you still supporting the developers even a little? I agree that strictly renting games is cheap but that's the renters' choice.

I'd like to think you are, because the rental outlets pay for the game outright at first. I've heard that the reselling of used games is what actually hurts the developers... they never see a dime of the resale money. It all goes to the video game store that's reselling it.
OH well. They should start making games worth buying then. Easy as that.
Do you have any idea how hard it is to make a really good video game? the money it costs them to make one? video games take a long time to make, they try their best and things don't always come out the way they want but they do what they have to do to make money to support themselves.

Well, he has a point. It doesn't matter how long it takes, how much money it's cost, how much blood, sweat and tears have been poured into a game. If a game sucks, it sucks, regardless of it's sob story. Are you going to be happy handing over your hard earned for a crap game, because it makes you feel like you're supporting the hard-done-by devs? Hell no. I'd rather pay a fiver for a low budget (or old/second hand) game that's awesome than a high budget one that sucks balls. *coughtoohumanhazecough*

How about we just be happy that video games even exist, because if they didn't people would be whining about how bored they are.
If the game sucks it sucks who cares, if you think it sucks don't buy it simple as that, if you think the developers should make video games worth buying but they don't and your so pissed about it, just stop playing video games, its that simple.
Give it time. You will see more RPGs for the PS3 in 2009. We just have to wait. Thanks to blu ray we will see longer rpg games! Maybe we will see a better rpg than fable
I know your new, but none of that made much sense. Any big name Rpg is most likeyl going to be miltiplatform, your going to see some atlus lower budget RPgs on the Ps3 in time as dev costs go down, but if the audience doesnt catch on, assume those too to sway in favor of the multiplatform or wii. And besides, Fable isnt really an RPG and there are plenty of Great RPgs out that are better than it.

I dunno about that (even though you got bannz0red.. nub). Square Enix is already making 360 RPGs, that's ****ing huge.
