To be fair, i havent played MGS4 !!! But i have watched the full game walkthrough from some sites, including the whole cutscenes , and the total experience that this game provides is amazing. Its amazing to just realise that i had watched the length of 6-7 cinemas at a stretch, and it still didnt feel enough........... A MASTERPIECE of storytelling and gameplay.......
I don't see how you can say that you have felt the "total experiance" of the game without actually playing it. I mean sure its a good enough story that I could sit there and watch the whole game through, but actually playing it is where you get a sense of self accomplishment. I don't know maybe its just me, but I think to full experiance a video game, you really do need to play it.
I have played a little of Metal gear solid and the gameplay obviously never held a candle to games like Ocarina, Golden eye which were released around the same time. The over the head view was never my favourite. I know that gameplay alone in the Metal gear SERIES will never fetch the game even a top 100 spot in "A BEST VIDEO GAME LIST" . MGS4 however just kills off all what i said just now.
However, i had always been too much in awe with the story. It requires amazing storytelling instincts and sophistication to come up with themes and stories like these.
Hence, the fact that i neednt even play a single part to love Metal gear, holds a testament to the amazing skills of MR.kOJIMA, that's all........
I too Appreciate your points and agree it's the truth. . Being a great fan of video games, i know that you have to play the game to feel the thing. However in the case of metal gear Series , remember that's not the only way. I am a testament to that fact. Overall, its the second best game series of all time after Ocarina of Time.

i play golf. i've got the sims on my PC but i also do enjoy fast paced shoot 'em ups, i like all platforms of games but this game is just awful! (in my eyes)

For the most part, the majority of people that don't enjoy MGS games just don't like slower, more skill needed gameplay. They want the fast paced "shoot everything everywhere no matter what" feeling which is dull in my opinion but you can't change the opinions of people who are closed minded about other things.

I didn't mean it as an insult at all, I was just saying with a game like MGS when you play online, different game modes require different levels of thinking and use of how the game is supposed to be played and what it's designed for. Sneaking, hiding, movement, accuracy, skill with all of your weapons and items, and mastering CQC is all needed when you play MGO. You don't have to know it all but you will struggle from time to time without at least one of those skills.
I play a ton of CoD4 as well which is that faster paced, takes less skill game that I mentioned before which it does. Now it does take skill and intelligence to be a top player but when you play game modes that have people just throwing grenades all over the place and shooting through everything and getting kills, even if I'm not the one who gets killed, it still makes me mad, and these people just LOVE that. For the most part, everyone now uses a P90, Juggernaut, Steady Aim when they play. I don't know if you've played CoD4 or not but that combonation can be cheap and annoying quite frequently.
I enjoy both styles of games but I do believe there is a big difference between the two. I understand exactly what you are saying and I am very impressed with your mature, well though out response. Most of the time when you disagree with someone on a forumall hell breaks loose, so I thank you for your tact.
I do play a ot of CoD4 and I am with you on the style of most players. I play with communication and tact. I would rather win than have the best stats so that's how I play. The majority of others would rather go 16-3 with a loss than 8-8 with a win.

The execution of the post was lackluster, but I got the gist of what he was asking, and had some interesting points, I don't agree with those points, but interesting none the less. I can't understand why he is even asking the question in the first place. It is a well executed beautiful game that is... FUN. That's what makes a good game.
MGS4 SUCKS!!! i came here to ask all of u... why is it so popular? i'm currently borrowing MGS4 and currently hating it. its all "CUTSCENE walk walk CUTSCENE CUTSCENE CUTSCENE CUTSCENE walk walk CUTSCENE CUTSCENE CUTSCENE LOADING SCREEN CUTSCENE CUTSCENE CUTSCENE walk CUTSCENE" its god damn frustrating and god damn japanese. i played MGS3 and thought that was a fair bit better 1. level design was alot smoother 2. still a Sh** load of CUTSCENES but not too many. and it didnt go too far when it came to all this technology and stuff.
TECHNOLOGY god damn it japan i played it for 2 seconds and there's all the fng robods that BLEED! yeah. BLEED (they're fng ROBOTS THAT BLEED BLOOD WTF?) and this suit that snake wears? i liked the cold war concept with real clothing n stuff not this technology crap.
finally JAPAN everyone in this game has to look cool. that vamp guy with his coat doing ballet everywhere and stuff that sonny girl with her stockings AND NAOMI!!!! WTF!??? god damn purves gave her exposed **** and shes a scientist! i cant take her seriously with all her clothing being open that bit too much. i aint gay, shes fng hot but its war in this game and shes trying to look her best! -_- WHY IS THIS GAME SO POPULAR IF ITS SO CRAP!?!?!?!

Thats your opinion on what you think of the game. I highly doubt that you played the different games, so you will most definitely not like this game. Also, you know you can hit start and skip the cut-scenes if you are really that impatient.
