everytime right after the cut scene where u shoot vamp in the head the game stops and takes me to the ps3's main screen.

It has to be a problem with your disc. The only advice that I can give you is to exchange it for another copy and give that a shot.

Just hold R1 while not in aim mode to cqc. For that part where you have to: equip the syringe and press triangle while you have him in a grab.
You can't cqc him until he is in the process of healing.
If you're trying to grab someone, don't move the direction stick and hold R1. If you are trying to slam them into the ground you can run to them holding the direction stick in any direction when you hit R1. Those are the basics, there are slightly more complex ways of CQCing but most are unnecessary.
Am having trouble downloading update for MGS4. It is getting to 17% and then stopping. because of this I cant get online. Has anyone had the same experience? HELP!!!

Have you checked your internet connection? I live in a dorm and I have to use the ethernet cable, because the Wi-Fi stinks. So, if I were you, I'd try the ethernet cable, and see if that makes a difference. Good luck!
hey guys....while playing MGS 4 on my ps3 the first 3 acts worked really smoothly without any problems. But after the mission briefing in act 4 when the game starts the graphics go to pieces....i mean its like 2D graphics with ridiculous colour patterns.....even the controller buttons dont function according to the game..I tried installing again & even loaded parts of acts 1,2,3 but they all load easily and work nicely. I recently bought the PS3 slim and so I have no idea what the problem is here....

I seriously hope this is a joke. If not its just the first half of the beginning of MGS1 for nostalgic purposes nothing is wrong with your ps3,

Is my cd corrupt or something & this is really weird cuz it works perfectly on my full hd lcd tv for the first 3 acts....& if u think i'm joking i'll upload a pic for you!!!
There is nothing wrong with it. its obvious you've never played MGS1. Its literally the first 5 mins of the original game in MGS4. Its supposed to look all 2d and stuff since MGS1 was a Ps1 game

ohhh sorry my bad...THANKS a lot dude & yea i've never played a MGS game before....but honestly for anyone like me its a huge shock to see the awesome graphics disappear suddenly :P
