All in all, it could be a great game, and the graphics are tight, but hopefully its not just another repeat of an old game, but with a different name, if you know what i mean.

I was really hoping it was going to be like socom 2. From what i've seen so far it looks like the opposite. Don't need sprint sure as hell don't need armor. And that rolling move looks really stupid. -

Man, you guys need to get with it. If it's borrowing elements from existing games, it's doing it because those games were good.
I tell you what, and you can take this to the bank, buy some cds, earn some interest and send me a check in a few years; If all they did was release a better graphics version of Socom 2 everyone would hate it. Change is good, repetition is stale.
I'm enlarging this next part because it's important and you need to read it: Look at Rainbow Six Vegas. The first one was amazing, an absolute mind-blowing experience. So here comes Rainbow Six Vegas 2, and everyone hates it because it's exactly like the first one. But wait, if the first one was so good, and the second is identical to the first one, then surely the second one will be as good as the first. Right? Right? Wrong. It sucks because you've already played it. You played the hell out of it. Now, here comes this new one, that's just like the old one, and you can't stand it because you've already played it out without even opening the box.
Just lay off the hateraide until you get your hands on the game, then if it sucks, feel free to do all the pissing & moaning you want. -

The point im trying to make that nobody is getting obviously. Is there was nothing wrong the way it was thus none of that new crap is needed. Everybody loved socom 2 the way it was. Lag, hit detection needed some work but that was pretty much it. There is no need to take stuff from different games to add to socom. When they do that it's not socom it's something else. I can hatorade all i want too if they are making it not what id like it to be. -

For one cd's aren't a good buy right now... At least in New York there around 2% compared to 3 months ago at 5% to 6%.
But everything else I agree on. Change is good up to a certain point. Prone roll???? Thats a no no. But on the other hand rolling gernades thats pretty sick.
What the game needs is more interaction with the enviornment. For example climbing trees and moving objects to create cover. They cant do that but they added prone roll.... His cigarette is burning but he never seems to ash. www.myspace.com/cavaluzzi

Nowadays, yeah one game sounds like fun, but I'd lose interest after that.
I hear what you're saying, but it's a catch 22. The best thing they can do is take what made Socom 2 so good, and add a little to it to make it great. Originally Posted by sublime8022 Prone roll???? You can lean, so what's so bad about a roll? It's not like when you're rolling a bunch of ninja swords fly out of your body killing anything in a 20 yd range. I mean, really, come on. I think it's on one of my pcs at work. I'll check tomorrow. That's all im saying. Socom 2 needed very little to be great. Some new stuff isn't always bad. Im just saying a lot of that stuff doesn't seem to be needed. I have my own opinion i don't care if anybody else agrees. I don't ever plan on playing with sublime anyway. I hope it's awesome too don't get me wrong. -

The lean was for looking around corners quickly. Prone roll is just a roll to make you look like an idiot. Will I use prone roll? Probably. Will I get used to it? Yea. But what was the purpose of adding it?
Prone roll I can get used to open mic with range... I will see how that goes.. They had that in either metal of honor or call of duty 2, I can't remember but all I know is I didn't like that at all.
Edit: Why would you not play with me razor? I was just saying why ask for socom 2 or 3 again if you have all this power on a next gen system. Didn't mean to offend. His cigarette is burning but he never seems to ash. www.myspace.com/cavaluzzi

I think the whole point of what Slant Six has been trying to do is take SOCOM back to what it started out to be, then add a few more things to make it a fresh and new experience. Chances are, it won't be like the old SOCOMs, but nothing really has captured the feel of SOCOM II. At least for me it hasn't. So, from what I've seen from videos and interviews, the game will esentially be SOCOM, but it will try to enhance on that. I play videogames with a grapefruit on my ****. It helps me get in the zone. Yeah, no telling whether or not it will have the same old Socom Feel to it. However, I don't see the need to complain about things they are adding and or improving, if all you want is a graphically updated Socom 2, then I guess your SOL,. Because 1, theres never ever going to be another Socom 2, no matter how hard they try. And 2, I've never seen so much whining regarding a game developer "improving" it's game. I mean if they were just sitting around not improving anything except the graphics, then I'd think you'd have a real reason to get PO. Just because they are adding things that weren't a part of the Socom experiece in previous years, doesn't mean that it is going to be a negative thing. It's that the whole point, I think it is, try and have the same "old feel" to it, while at the same time implementing new ideas into the game to try and improve it, and make it that much better. Making the same old Socoms, just with better graphics just isn't going to cut it anymore.
Lets just let Slant Six do there thing, and see how the finished product is. I think they know what the Socomers want and don't want, so as of right now, I'm going to trust that they, at least try and meet as many of those wants as possible. | |
