Socom 4 is just about guaranteed now. I sold the domain name a couple months ago to a person that didn't seem affiliated with Sony. But I just noticed the new registration info is ALL Sony. So either she sold it to Sony or was affiliated with Sony. Sony wouldn't buy the domain name just for it to be a re-direct. This is big news. So socom 4 is definitely in the works.
Socom5.com they werent interested in though.. Go figure.
Im going to digg this thread. Maybe it'll get some news.

Nowhere near asmuch as you'd expect from a big name company.
It was never officially confirmed.
I do recall Zipper themselves, or atleast someone high up in Sony said that Zipper was working on Socom 4. This was back during the first look at Confronation.
I still don't see the point in two separate companies putting out two separate Socom titles.
One is just a remake of older Socom titles with a twist to be sold on the PSN Store and at retailers. People loved the old socom, and a lot people now like this type of gameplay, so it is a good treat. It is basicly to hold people off until Socom 4 which I don't see coming out until maybe late 08.

Seth said this. That Slant Six was working on Confrontation as Zipper began work on S4. No mention of a timeline though.

Money is the point. A new Socom will drive a certain percentage of PS3 sales, while two titles will earn more than one.

I don't think it's really fair to classify Confrontation as this. Granted it's going to sport a redo of Crossroads, but that's about where the remake bit ends.
As I recall it, I believe Seth was quoted in Blykmic's E3 interview as saying Crossroads was the only map planned to get the PS3 treatment. Of course, I could be wrong, and all things are subject to change until they pass.

That better not be true. Crossroads is ****ing overrated. Bring on some Night Stalker and Sand Storm!!!!
I'm glad to hear this. Don't get me wrong, I love old maps but after years upon years of playing them, I want something new. Plus, a Socom C article came out that said updates which include MAP packs will come out regularly. I'm sure old maps will come out. I want to see DG and Frostfire the most. Expand Frostfire so that is has new sections, but keep it a CQC based map. Expand DG a bit, too' but not too overboard.
