oh boy..
i can't wait to try and play Night Stalker in HD :D
i mean guys imagine a SOCOM game in HD (Sniping will have a whole new meaning if they remake some of our old favorites.)
could someone clarify some info for me? which game is going to be mostly all new maps customization all online etc. and what socom will be the old maps? to "hold us over" until the all online one comes out. ive been reading articles and i find one that says one thing and one that says the other.

Slant Six is developing Socom : Confrontation. Confrontation will be multiplayer only, and initially consist of five maps, one being a revamp of "Crossroads". SCEA says that further maps will come as downloadable content, and that their primary focus will be on entirely new maps, though bringing back old maps is always a possibility. Confrontation is scheduled for an end of 07, early 08 release.
At the same time Zipper is working on a new Socom title, presumably Socom 4. Little to no details are known about this game.
Lastly, the search feature of this forum and Google will yield all the answers you need.
Darn -- only 5 maps? I dont even want to hear the words "Socom Map Pack" come back into play again... they were talking about soo many for socom 3 and what.. we got 3 that nobody plays anymore...if they did to begin with -- even tho afershock was pretty cool... i think it was called aftershock

Zipper isn't with this Socom. Slant Six is and we don't know what they will bring to the table.

Your right about that scuba, but talk about no choices. I thought it was at least 8. What do you perfer Buying the game or downloading? I know its not in this section but I dont feel like making a thread. If you download it will you not be able to play it on another ps3 if your ps3 breaks?

Think about it. Yes, five maps seems like very little. However, on any of the previous Socom titles, the mainstream maps consisted of about five. I love nearly every map Socom has ever made (I absolutely despise Shadow Falls and Blackwoods, though) and I wish more people played the outsider maps. I'm still upset about the release only having five maps, but I doubt we will have to wait long to see a new map pack come out.

It's not zipper putting out the maps this time, it's an entierly different developer. So they're preformance and drive to push out map packs is currently unknown to us. And the map is called after hours.
And I'm going to agree with scuba, the outsider maps were reallllly fun imo. The ruins, Rat's Nest, The mixer, and death trap were among my favorite Socom II maps.
...I switched to 360 when I saw the PS3's price comparison.
To be perfectly fair, the 60gb PS3 bundle isn't that much more expensive than the Premium (or Elite, for that matter) Xbox 360 bundle... your example would have made more "sense" a few months ago.
