Hi, I know zombie games are sort of becoming outdated and overrated but have we really gotten a zombie game that is exactly what the public is asking for? No.
Some of you might have heard of Dead State. Dead State is a free roaming, zombie RPG where you can scavenge and find other survivors. Sounds amazing right? Wrong. Dead State is a TURN- based game, not to mention it's graphics are f*cking vivid (Which just looks so wrong while trying to survive the zombie apocalypse)

Anyways, I propose a petition to any videogame developer out there to make a game that fits these requirements:
-3rd person or first person shooter
-Able to customize and create a uniqe character
-Free-roaming (Probably best in Northern USA/Southern Canada)
    -Ability to barricade
    -Ability to scavenge
    -Ability to find survivors
-Multiplayer (Competitive and Co-op) Note: I'd imagine the multiplayer would be similar to GTA's multiplayer where players are spread around a large area with a lot of AI.
    -Story Driven with side missions
-Classical zombies (Slow walking/infected) none of that mutant shit like from Resident Evil.
-Gritty graphics (Make the world look dirty, dark, and polluted)

Agree or disagree? Post comments please :)
Also, if you agree write something like "sign". If I get large amount of people to agree I will most likely send this to multiple developers/publishers

    You talking mmo? sandbox?

    BTW
How sick would it be if you played and got eaten by a zombie, then started a new character only to find that your old character is a zombie?

I'm talking Sandbox with multiplayer and Co-op capabilities.
And that would be pretty neat but then everytime you got eaten you would have to start over :\

It would be pretty cool to do a good old fashioned survival horror game. I have no real interest in killing zombies by the hundred. They should be fewer in number, very tough (headshots only/slowly burnt to death), the player should have less ammo, firearms quite rare, and you should be extremely vulnerable i.e. one bite and you're fucked. You are forced out of hiding in the centre of a city, maybe a week or so after it all kicks off, and the aim is to get out. No storyline required. You can pick which direction you want to go in, so that once you escape you can start again on another route. I wouldn't demand every location to be unique, or even accessible- some housing estates would be surplus to requirements and not included, while others would have a number of templates that they would be generated from, so it wouldn't require all that much time to build a convincing game world. But at all times you could pick different routes... through the commercial or residential sector? Try the avenue or the cul-de-sac? Go down the road, scurry from door to door, or go through the gardens round the back? Maybe if the houses are all attached to each otehr you could walk along the deserted rooftops, trying to keep your balance Heavy Rain style. You reach the train tracks, do you just dander across, use a tunnel underneath or maybe venture to the bridge a couple hundred metres down the line? Then you are in the industrial area... do you enter the meat factory, sure to be a zombie hotbed, or do you take the dark, mazelike warehouse instead? You come across zombies, perhaps you detour around them, perhaps you go through them, running the risk that more appear.

That would be a good game.

I thought Dead Rising 1 & 2 kepy my hunger at bay for head shotting those nasty zombie's, but you're right we need a type of game like this.

I was thinking something along the lines off:

Fallout meets Dead Rising meets L4D meets Dead Space

You really should pitch that idea to either a major or minor game developer, it could be a real big hit. It could keep the player interested, say different locations give you different survival options (meat packing plant = an assortment of bladed weapons, journey to a police station, only to find that there is one gun and a box of ammunition in a locked gun cage which you then need to find a tool to smash it open, in the background zombies are reaching for you through the corroded bars of the holding cells.)

Look up Dead Island. The pre-reviews are pretty much what you're looking for.

Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare was pretty good. It was chock full of the walking dead.

To back up sen's post, here's some info pulled right off of the games website:

    http://deadisland.deepsilver.com/deadisland.php

    The part I'm referring to:

    - First person melee combat
    - 4 player co-op
    - weapon customization
    - set on an open world tropical island
    - rpg elements for character development
    - hordes of gruesome zombies

My last issue of GameInformer had a pretty decent article inside regarding this game. Spoke of classes (the "tank" class is introduced on the games website), the open world of the island itself, and a couple of other things that I can't recall atm. I'm really hoping that when they tout the "melee combat focus" that they keep it that way and that guns are either non existent or extremely limited. Call me odd but I think a "zombie apocolypse" would be more intense if you couldn't blast your way out of it. All in all though the game sounded interesting enough (to me at least) to have already put my pre order in.
Give without taking. Take not without giving. Expect nothing. Earn everything.

picture this.... why does it have to be just zombies! we have all seen and played zombie games and i believe that everyone agrees they are pretty beast at the begining of your time playing it .... but what if it was more than zombies, such as warewolves, vampires, ents, giant spiders, etc.... mainly a (supernatural theme) with realistic damage attributes .... say you dont fancy guns, well pick up this sword over here and kill it with that .... like if you shoot the monsters right shoulder with a pistol it goes straight through but grab that sword and blam!!! no more arm... but no more having to hit the son of a buscuit 80 times to kill it just use your percision to hit it in a death blow! and yes free roam it would be stupid without it! and have certain areas where each monster thrives !!! dang this idea makes me think of a lot of ideas!!!

I made about 5 pages about this exact type of game story short this is a summary of what I put.
I want the driving of Dead Island and Far Cry 2(Check it out) I want it to be super realistic so I mean armor rusting and weapons age you get hunger you can even make like a saferoom in a store you manage to clear out of zombies discover damaged guns find tools to repair those gun have to find engines for cars tires ect trade with online players black market dealers in order to talk online you have to have found a radio in the game you suffer from hypothermia and dehydration sleep deprivation I want the free roam of GTA IV and RDR and you can make items like weapons food packs ect.
