Shortening of words is used only in text messages to save characters availability and time but if you have unlimited use of characters why shortened it...

Also, long distance phone calls are also not as long distance as you may think. We used to get free phone calls to the majority of people with the same dialing code, and if you were to call somewhere like Miami it would be long distance.

Sprint aren't too good for pricing, but they have one of the best service areas. Nextel (before the merger) were good because of the walkie-talkie feature on most of their phones.
If I'm not mistaken Nextel has free incoming..or maybe they used to? I wouldn't really know, I use Verizon..

Well the only time I had Nextel was in the first few weeks of being over there. It was just a cheap one until I could find a decent place to get phones.

I also remember having a phone there on Virgin, worst service area ever!

Also, what the hell is "roaming" on phone charges? I never understood that one.

Roaming is when you are out of range of your providers towers that supply your phone with the signal needed for it to function, which usually results in your phone saying "No signal available." If you set your phone to "Roaming," you are then using another company's towers in order to get your cell phone to once again have a signal. Since your not using the service of your provider, the fees are greater while operating your phone in the "Roaming" mode.

I don't know how true this is for anywhere outside of New York but Sprint sucks. My friend has Sprint and he's got service pretty much nowhere. If we go 7 miles out of town it says that he's roaming.

I use Verizon and love it. I've been with them for almost 3 years now and haven't ever had to big of a problem. I get service basically anywhere I go, their plans are awesome (mines rocks), and IMO they have the coolest phones.

Really? I'm in New York as well and I get service everywhere with Sprint. Up until a few years ago I used to get hardly any service with Sprint. However, I believe they set up more towers or something (at least that's what they said), and ever since I've gotten close to full reception almost every place I have gone.
