I'm sure his received texts are > than his sent texts.. because he gets updates from all those sites I don't think you would respond back to them.

The most I've texted was a little over 2000..combined received and sent. And that was only with 1 person lol..and I thought that THAT was a lot.

Well he said he got half hourly texts from somewhere, so that can theoretically account for 48 (Probably wrong, I can't do maths) each day, so they will add up.

Hey, It's maths! Same as it's colour, favourite, aluminium and arse. What he doesn't speak is American.

Also, I'd like to know how many texts have been sent on this 49,000 a month plan. Nobody cares about how many are recieved, since no network operator is going to charge you for it.

I'm with Sprint and they charge you for both sent and received text messages. So if you have a plan for 500 text messages, that is for sent and received text messages combined.

:o Really?! Is that standard in the States? It's only for messages sent over here.

Yep, over here there's not much difference between sent & received in terms of pricing. It's stupid. I mean, I don't pay my mail man everytime he delivers mail to me.

This could all change in the near future though. There's a couple lawsuits getting underway. One involves carriers offering no way for customers to block spam messages, and then charging them for them, and then the other has to do with price gauging.

Wow, you guys have my sympathy. So, the carrier makes money from the message when it's sent, and again from the same message when it's received. That's bad. It's not your fault if your friends text you 10 times all at once.

What's the charge roughly? Here it's about 10p per message, which I think works out at about 16-20 cents? Or you can sign up to an unlimited contract plan for about £25 ($45-50/month?) these days. I wonder if it works out to basically the same for both of us, or if you really are getting a raw deal.

I think it's 10 cents per txt, and 25 cents for pic on Verizon Wireless. I have an unlimited plan though.

Like OME6A, mine is 10 cents a text if you do not have a specific plan. I pay $3 for 500 text messages a month which I think is reasonable, and it fits my usage of the system as well.

When I lived in the US, they charged for receiving phone calls aswell.

Example: My friend calls me. He gets charged at his end, I get charged at mine.

Also, long distance phone calls are also not as long distance as you may think. We used to get free phone calls to the majority of people with the same dialing code, and if you were to call somewhere like Miami it would be long distance.

Sprint aren't too good for pricing, but they have one of the best service areas. Nextel (before the merger) were good because of the walkie-talkie feature on most of their phones.
