Well the same people who overuse txt tlk are also usually the people who use the other forms or "Internet jargon". So I think it's safe to say they can be grouped into one social group, 'idiots'.

I can't stand when people Aim Type on these forums. It drives me up the walls when I'm trying to read something that is spelled out like a kid with crayon would do and refrigerator picture.

not really, becuse txt speak is alittle more widely used, and pretty much overusing it isnt too much of a big deal, unless u use too many acronyms.

However:
1m 7h3 3l173 h4ck3r 5upr3m3
and
Oh hai! yew liks meh kiteh spekz?Duz U wahnt me to uze deh theorems an ebberyting ????? (copied from icanhascheesburger.com)

These are truly idiotic, but i personally dont have a problem with the occasional txt speak, alittle but its not that much of an issue that id make a thread about it.

I try to type words out in full, but if I'm about to roll over into another message, I'll shorten what I can. Hey, I love the english language, but not enough to pay extra for it!

Using text talk in any other medium than text messaging is unforgivable and mind-numbingly irritating, however.

EDIT: The kittehspeak on ICHC has been taken out of context. The whole website is based around it, and is pretty funny, IMO. It's not funny (or even used, as far as I know) out of context, so it's not really right to include that.

So just becuse someone says U instead of you, it doesnt automatically make you any smarter, so i dont see the point in complaining about it.
No one is complaining about it, were just saying, for the most part it's wicked annoying. No kidding no one is here writing an English essay, or bible text, but is it asking to much to use proper English?

This is a real text I got last night:

"yo what r u doing 2nite man we shuld go 2 matts 4 his bros grad prty."

When I read something like that I feel like an idiot, and I feel somewhat sorry for my friend, lol. Take 3 more minutes and type our the damn words, it makes life easier for everyone.

I don't think it is really that big a deal. If someone uses text talk so be it. As long as I can understand the message it is fine with me.. No sense in judging someone based on how they write messages on a computer screen or cell phone.

When there's a keyboard in front of me or I'm writing I use "you" and "are". The only time I will shorten them is if I'm texting on my phone or when I playing on a game. I.E Socom could be frustrating to type to people on and Xboxlive also.
