How would you rate Grand Theft Auto IV?

I like GTA and think it is a good game, but I don't think it deserves a 10/10, although it is good.

people can dislike the game or be dissapointed, but u all have to agree, Rockstar deserves all the praise they are getting for this game. There is no game out right now or in the future that can come close to the level of detail that IV has. After playing it for a whole day, online and off, they have amazingly outdone themselves. The driving is great, once u realize that its not GTAIII. The graphics, for a free roaming game that size has every minute detail seen, and the lighting! It makes the city look different every hr of the day. You can look at a sign post for a full game day cycles and it will have about 12 or 13 different looks based on the dynamic lighting, and just looking at the views from a helocoptor just shows u how amazing the general detail is while keeping that huge scope of a large free world.

As well as that, look at the characters. The renders while more of the same are alot better but with tons more detail, their animations more fluid, and with the euphoria engine everything is done more realistically,like jumping, getting hit by a car, being shot in the leg, or the way they fall when they're shot while running.

In case alot of you didn't realize, all this is seemingly put into multiplayer. So all the pedestrians, cops, cars, and even the huge free world are included with nothing left out, and little to no popup. That is amazing in itself, as you would normally assume that the multiplayer would be crippled from the single player in some way (and after witnessing saints rows horrible multiplayer). These guys really thought of everything.

Then again people will find fault with anything, and i'm not denouncing anyones opinion on how they feel about the game, but you have to admit, this is a quadruple AAAA game.

P.S. The water effects are eaqually incredible.

The game is amazing, 5 stars all the way.

In my 28 years, it is one of the greatest gaming experiences I've ever had. Single player has depth, multiplayer is endless hours of fun, everything is just spot-on.

Love it.

I didn't really go into depth on why I said the game didn't deserve a 10/10 so I guess I will now.

Yes, the game is fun and the single player is awesome, but I think the driving is terrible. I can keep a car looking nice until I come up to the first turn. With the handling as ****** as it is, it is so hard to drive. Also, the cars are nothing great. They seem like there all the old cars from every other GTA game and the motorcycles are lame.

Escaping the police in this game is far to easy. About a minute of driving straight and you lose the cops, no real challenge involved. Also, just to see what would happen, I pulled over one time and the cop just pulled up behind me and sat there. I was expecting the police to have a little more smarts in this game.

I also HATE Roman's missions, there so god damn boring. Pick someone up, bring them here, then here, then back to wherever, very boring. I also hate having to bail him out of everything.

I'm not saying that I don't like GTA, because that would be a lie, I just don't think it's as good as it was hyped up to be. I think it is well deserving of a 8.5 or 9 out of 10, but not a 10/10, IMO.

Haven't tried the online yet but I most likely will tonight. I usually like to beat the single player before I move onto multiplayer but I think I'll make a exception with this game.

This is a tough one for me.

At first, playing this game was a huge let down for me. The first thing I did when I had the chance was try to climb a lamppost. In the original reports of people watching R* employees play the game, they saw the player climb various things including a lamppost. This didn't make the final cut.

There are a couple of other things that were also cut out of the final game which I was seriously looking forward to, can't remember them off the top of my head though.

Sometimes the games a bit weird of Niko holding stuff also. When trying glasses on in the clothes shop, his hand is like a 1/2 inch away from holding the glasses, this applies to quite a few things. Not a big deal though.

The graphics took a lot of getting used to for me. The "core" graphics don't seem to be amazing, but you look at a closeup of a car, the effects of rain on the ground, fire, etc and you will forget about the rest of the graphics.

The missions are pretty good up to now, but you seem to hit the ground running a bit more than in other GTA games.

With that said, 5/5 for me.

I thought the game was awesome to begin with. But once I got to Algonquin, the main island, I was BLOWN away! I just drove around for a long time, taking everything in. I got a chopper just to fly around and take everything in from a high point of view.

I agree with most. 5 stars. Actually I challenge most people to only play for 2 hours, its easy to lose yourself in this game. Theres so much to explore.

Four stars from me. It's a fantastic game, but not perfect. It's technically astounding, the 'little touches' are fantastic, and although although the car handling takes some getting used to, I've pretty much gotten my head around it now. However, I'm just not quite as blown away as I expected to be. Certainly fantastic, certainly a must buy, and certainly something I'll be playing for quite a while. But not the best game evarrr or anything, I don't think.

I still think its a 5/5 or a 10/10 but I think the driving controls could use a lot of work and the car noises could use improvement. Those are rather simple things that would make the game so much better. This game has an amazing environment and thats what I love. Games like RB6V 2 have great gameplay and ****** environment which just wrecks the game.

I thought what they did with this game is amazing with the online play and the details, but unfortunately I think the concept behind the GTA series is dumb as hell and I get bored out of mind so 1 star. I'm sorry but all the game is to me is chaos which bugs me.
