I think fame ruined football (soccer).

None of the players play for love of the game anymore, they play for the big fat paycheck they get at the end and their home in the countryside.

This is why I can't watch league football. I will watch some international games, but nothing else. All the league games are full of nancy boys who fall on the floor faking injuries at every opportunity. It still happens in international games, but there is pride of country involved so most of the trippings and "hits" aren't as soft.

I watch all soccer (football) and love it but it's just those "nancy boys" that you referred to above that just absolutely piss me off.

Don't know what you've been watching but there is absolutely no pride in American Soccer. The Euro guys may be sissy but at least it has some sort of a meaning. All Soccer is boring to me, but the MLS takes it to a new level. The MLS is so boring that I makes me wish softball or badminton was being aired, seriously.

Well you said you don't soccer so you obviously don't actually watch it much at all and probably just base your opinions off of a few games you've actually watched. That's my opinion on what you said.

If you watch a lot of soccer and compare European soccer (football) to American soccer, then you can notice a big difference right away. Soccer is a bigger and more famous sport in Europe but that doesn't mean that they take more pride in their game. They are actually sissys that try so hard to put their acting skills to work and try to pull fouls from the other team. The world cup is a different story though. Teams are playing for their WHOLE country and I love it! Granted there are times when players will take a fall to try and pull fouls but for the most part, the players take pride in themselves and their team so they don't look bad for their country.

Today (Wednesday) at 2:30pm EST watch the Euro 2008 semi-final game on ESPN and just try to keep track of how many players will purposely fall to try and pull a foul. You will be amazed with the number you end up with. When a player gets TAPPED on the foot they will dive and cry out in agony like they just got shot. It's pathetic!

I don't blame the players in soccer for trying to get free kicks and penalties. There are hundreds of cameras in those stadiums but none of them are there to help the officials! The commentators and TV audience can see precisely what happened in a suspected foul but not a single one of the 4 officials has video playback. Its just stupid. If they were to wait ten seconds for a real judgement to come through from a guy watching the incident repeatedly from the best angle, the whole sport would change instantly.

Hate to bring back such a dead topic (especially since scuba isn't here to rant about hockey) but just found this article and thought it was hysterical.

Riskiest sport? Cheerleading, report finds - Kids and parenting - MSNBC.com

I know it's not the tough we were talking about but there it is. Our answer.

I voted racing. It's a lot harder than it looks (particularly auto racing...not Nascar) and you can't be good at some racing like running. Some people just can't be good runners not matter what they do. Other sports you can practice and become better at them but some racing you can't especially horse racing (if you are to tall you will never be good) and running.

I think the tougher sports are the ones that rely solely on the people involved.

Car racing is tough, but faster cars each year ease the stress. Sports such as running which are all on you (the athlete) are the tougher ones if you ask me.

Took me 6 months, but there's my attempt at a valid opinion.
