Nascar isn't tough, at all. All you need is a good bit of stamina(or whatever) to take the heat inside the car. Nothing tough about it.
So being tossed around in a metal car at 185mph, and walking away from it doesn't make you tough? You have to realize that mentaly he was probably very messed up, physically I'm amazed that he walked straight or walked at all...

A bit of stamina? You'd be amazed as to how much stamina it takes to drive a race car at those speeds for that long. Driving a car at that speed tears your body apart, putting stress on every part of your body when you break and accelerate.

You obviously don't drive a car. Drive a car on the highway for an hour, 2 hours and then get out of the car see how you feel. Now go drive a tin can at 180mph with 30 other cars around/near you, in 100 degree weather, and do it all for about 3 hours non stop. See how tough you are after that. I posted the video as a joke not to be like "OMG NASCAR IS THE TOUGHEST YO!@!!" It happened this weekend and it reminded me of this thread. Nascar is not as easy as you think.

No, it doesn't. He didn't walk away with an injury, and being rattled isn't anything to "mentally mess you up"

Driving on a highway isn't anything. You don't feel anything different from driving for 10 minutes or 2 hours. Your back might hurt a little but that's it.

And so what if the speed is faster? It doesn't do anything but put some force on you, which doesn't do anything to you when you're in a cushioned seat.

Nascar is nothing, no toughness at all. It's just sitting in a hot car for a few hours.

You don't have to be hurt to be tough... Ok, lets go put you in a car, crash you into the wall, have you flip a few times while car parts are zipping around, and see if you think straight afterward..

I'm not going to argue with you, you obviously have no knowledge of nascar and debating about a topic that your opponent knows nothing about is absolutely pointless...

It goes without saying that this thread is full of opinions, why else would it be a poll where people vote on their choice, not someone elses.

And like I have said before, we are talking about how tough the sport it and not the player/person.

First off, stop insulting people for not agreeing with you (this goes for everyone). It's getting annoying seeing "You're ignorant. That's pure ignorance. You obviously know nothing about [insert sport here]." I don't care that you post your own views, but bashing members for having a different one is just stupid. This is like when Scuba and the brits (mainly Jim) were arguing about which country had the better armed forces. Now, instead of Delta Force and Mogadishu (who care if I spelled it wrong), it's hockey and harder hits.

I'm having a little trouble understanding that. How am I trying to not say that hockey hits aren't effective on a football field? Don't explain it in your words, take quotes from my post and show me exactly where and how I am trying to avoid the fact that hockey hits are less effective on a football field. And, I'm not saying that hockey does or doesn't have harder hits in a hockey rink. I wouldn't be surprised if it did because of the higher speed they travel at though.

I have a great idea to end this argument over what sport has a harder hit (more pound-force to it). Calcumalate (on purpose) the average speed of the players of a sport, then their average weight (pads don't count), add the average weight of their pads, and see how much force would be generated. Then, take the sort of terrain features there are in the area (billboards, grass, people) and see how much force they absorb, and then you can definitively say what sport has a harder hit.

... Don't just sit there, get your calculator and start pressing the numbers.

I can't see why anyone is getting uptight in this thread, I'm not being specific to any member here. Everyone has their own views and opinions and they are free to share them. No one has tried to force their opinion on anyone else, so lets keep it that way. No arguments are present here, just "heated debates" if you want to even go that far.

I would love it if we could all have a V-G-F sporting competition. I would lose in all games of course since I am huge and have no sporting talent, but it may give a new perspective on this matter at hand.

Please don't get this thread locked by complaining about other people voicing their opinions, we have had some solid discussion in here so far. If you don't like what you read, don't read it.

Call me when you drive a car for one and when you know what NASCAR is. They don't have a damn lazy boy for a drivers seat.

Nascar is a lot more than you think, I could say the same for Hockey, nothing more than skating on ice for an hour. (Scuba don't jump down my throat just using hockey as an example to generalize like he did)

Ok, been there, done that. Now what?

I already know what NASCAR is, I've said it multiple times; It's sitting in a hot car for a few hours, riding around in an oval. It doesn't do anything to you but make you sweat.

Prove to me that NASCAR is more than just sitting in a hot car for a few hours and Ill shut up.
