Now what I'm thinking of, although I doubt it will happen, is for online play accross all systems on non-exclusive games obviously. I know the 360 and the computer can do it, but other than buisiness wise, I see no reason it's not possible with the PS3 or even the Wii. What do you guys think?

Well to answer your question, no I don't think we'll see this anytime soon. I believe that they could never make a server strong enough to hold all of the users that will be using it at a time... it would be laggy as all can be. I also think that it would make things like Xbox Lives paying plan obsolete. If you could play the same games on the same server as other systems, why would you want to spend money on Xbox Live when you could buy a PS3 and play for free? If it's run on the same server, it will be just as laggy or slow on any system, making the payment totally obsolete.
Microsoft would be the headliner to all of this idea though. They're the only company(correct me if I'm wrong) to seriously experiment with multi-platform online gaming. Sony tried it, I believe with MLB the show, but it wasn't great at all. In other words, I believe this won't happen at all, or is a long ways off from reality.
