Nice, that's a great way to put it. If it weren't for the '90s we would all still be wearing spandex and makeup. I'm so glad I didn't grow up back then. The worst thing now is the wiggers.

Lol, I know where you're trying to get at. The 90's were completely amazing to sum it all up, no year in the past, towards the future could ever top the 90's, and I don't care what noone says! Rock on with your Socks on please!

LoL, and nearly all of the music I listen to daily, was recorded over 20 years ago.
Don't get me wrong, I love music from every era and genre. In the same day you'll catch me listening to Louis Armstrong, The Velvet Underground, Jay Z and The Horrors.
I don't think you can narrow it down to one decade. However, I voted for the 70s. Because I go to a lot of concerts, this would've been a prime time to catch the greats of the 60s, and the new stuff in the 70s.
The 60s-70s were the greatest 20 years for music. During this time, the foundations of nearly all of today's music were laid and fortified. You wouldn't have the majority of today's music without the greats from this period.

Name any band from this period that you're referring to, and I'll tell you two that came before them that did it better than they did.

For the most part I agree with you. But look where music was heading in the late 80s. It was ****in' awful. The 90s turned that around. As for the naming of any band thing, how about Tool?

Tool's an exceptional band who was evolved their sound with every album. You can't compare anything from Opiate to 10,000 days. And Undertow, my fav. from the 90s, has horrible production.
As far as 90s Tool, I'd say The Stooges, 70s Pink Floyd, and Samhain.
Music was heading in good directions in the late 80s. Yeah there was crap (the same for every other year in music), but you also had Nine Inch Nails' first album, some of The Cure's best albums, Sonic Youth's EVOL, Guns N Roses' Appetite For Destruction, The Pixies, NWA, Metallica (who's best albums were all released in the 80s!) and a lot of other stuff.

Just think about it. Where would electric guitars be with out Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page or Eric Clapton? With out drummers like John Bonham, Keith Moon and Neil Peart, drums would probably still be just for keeping the beat.
I have nothing against some 90's bands but to say that it is the most important decade for music, especially rock and roll is just dumb.

There was great music from each decade but if I had to choose I'd go with the '80s simply for nostalgic purposes.

Except the 90s. It's a big, black pit of soulless evil.

I like the 80's. Punk was at it's peak during the Reagan Regime. The skateboarding I was doing at the time was going hand in hand with the Music. It was just a great time for me musically.
Suicidal Tendencies ( All I wanted was a Pepsi ..Just One Pepsi and she would'nt give it to me )
Drunk Injuns
The Circle Jerks
Dead Kennedy's
Samhain
Dead Milkmen
Butthole Surfers
Fugazi ( Waiting Room or Suggestion , Anyone ???? )
Every decade of Music has it's High Points and Low Points. However I feel that the 2000 Era is struggling to find a Muse , musically so to speak.
