Which computer brand?
I'm looking at new computers because all I have is my mom's, which she never let's me on, and my Gateway, Windows ME for the version. I just wanted to know which brand you guys would suggest. I've listed the 4 brands I'm looking at.

I like my Dell just fine. If not a Dell, I would go with Compaq

I have a Gateway laptop, Dell PC, HP PC, and I just sold my Compaq PC, I like them all except for te Gateway. I'd go with the Dell, I've had 2, loved them both...

Dell is your best bet on anything quality wise, but they still arent really good unless you pump them full of money. Go to a local computer retailer and ask him to piece together a computer for what you want. Gaming, word processing, picture taking, whatever. Just get it all there.

Dell's are pretty nice, as are Gateway's. I really don't care for HP's that much, I just don't think there computers are up to par with the other companies.
I personally would build my own computer. You can put what you want in it, and you can choose your price range. Depending on what you are building your computer for, you will probably save money as well.

Well there's not much difference between a HP and a Compaq, HP owns Compaq. I found that out when my Compaq came with a lot of preinstalled HP crap.
I wouldn't voluntarily buy either of those though. Gateways are nice, but Dell's choice to customize a computer to your exact specifications is what gave Dell my vote.
I hear a lot of good rep from Dell users, I would buy one but I'm fine with my HP-looking Compaq.

voted Dell cause mine is pimp but apples are nice.... also I think my friend has an HP labtop and its not bad... picture quality on it is amazing.
