Newer Forums vs Older Forums

This is fantastic.

I don't think I would describe the change as "long overdue", but I certainly think we have pretty much discussed all there is about the Socom series to date. And since Combined Insult looks like a finished version of Socom 3, I don't think new discussion there would last long.

I think it is a brilliant move to retain the huge membership base that you already had and try to increase it by branching into a general gaming community. The few who may feel alienated and leave will be more than offset by the many who will now discover this great community and use it to discuss their favorite game/platform.

I like the change. I think it will attract a lot of people now that it is based on more than one game. I think it was a good switch.

I voted too early to tell, but I'm sure soon enough this will be much, much better than the Socom forums. As of now, it is obviously just the exact same thing with new sections, but once the new members start flowing... should be very good.

I love the new forums. As was said, there is a link taking you to the original "Socom" sections under Playstation2 & 3. Socom3.com now takes you directly to our Socom sections. People won't miss a beat. This new forum allows us to discuss a variety of games with the same community. We have strived to create a gaming community against cheaters, glitchers, and conformity. I feel very proud to see 10-15 people assault and flame someone who posts glitches or cheats on our forums. They know we are for playing games the way they were meant to be played. They know we are a mature gaming community.

In time we will all be adjusted to the new forums. Ofcourse there will be people who like the Socom website better. You must realize, though, that the community you loved was 3 years in the making. We have only started this new website. We should be happy to have the members, the threads, and the posts as well. Our community will grow, and the new forums will start to fill. We all need to do our parts.

Veins/DK and the mods had me and most other senior members convinced right from the get-go a few months ago...

Its a bit rough around the edges, but still a fantastic job

Socom was losing alot of the BANG gamers use to get out of it when say, Socom 1 & 2 were around, but ever since Socom 3, it kinda died out. The change was a good choice by the guys at the top. I like the new forums because it has alot of good new stuff aswell as the old stuff.

New forums>Old forums.

WAIT JUST ONE SECOND, HERE.

I just put a new comp in my office today, and I haven't transferred my favorites list from my old one yet. I accidentally typed "socom3.com" into my browser instead of my address bar and this is what came up "Discussion forums for gameplay, cheating, tournaments and clan information."

Discussion forums for cheating?

Is this the direction we are going in, or is it just some stuff that was written for the search engines?

It has always been like that. This site is a mature community that is firmly against cheating. The logical explantion is that it was an advertisement tool, as for the fact that there would be many people searching for "socom glitches", it at least gets them to look at the site and raise awareness even though there is no glitch or cheating discussion here.

Although I know it was time for a change I still miss the old SOCOM forums. With all these new sections, I feel seperated from people and don't know where to go first. Personally, I feel that the change was too sudden and that maybe one forum could be added at a time to ease us into the change. Eventually, I will get used to the new forums, but my heart will always be in the Desert PPHBB forums.
