Germany and Argentina each made their first shots, Germany made their second, but Jens Lehmann made a good save on Argentina. The both made their third shots, Germany made its fourth. With the game on the line, Argentina had to make its 4th shot, but Lehmann made another great save giving Germany the win.

I hear that they have now given Lehmann the nickname "Berlin Wall", fitting, of course.
Ye dude am watching it now since I had it recorded.

I have to admit that the Germany vs. Argentina game was probably the best this year so far.

It was a really good game and both teams played well. Makes you wonder if they would have done better in the shootout had we not taken out their goalie*. He went the completely wrong direction on three of the four shots (not saying I could do any better), while Lehmann at least dove the right way for (I think) all of them, coming up short on only two of the four.

One thing I didn't like is that almost all of the calls and cards given were really bad calls. And that goes both ways. For instance, an Argentinian got a yellow card after being slide tackled right next to the German goal. That could have been the deciding moment for Argentina, but the referee gave him a yellow card, instead of the German tackling him (if you watch the replays, it really was the German's fault).

That being said, go Germany! We're moving on.

* Argentina's goalie had to be taken out of the game when one of the German players collided with him mid-air. Apparently he got hurt pretty bad, since he was hardly able to stand.

I'm watching the England vs Portugal at the moment, currently in the last minute of a second overtime.

Score is 0 to 0, so it has basically been a back and forth game, each team has had some opportunities, but failed to make their shots.

Ill edit this with penalty kicks, considering they are about to go to that stage.

Portugal's goalie guessed right on every penalty kick, Englands couldn't do anything, Portugal won 3-1 on penalty kicks.

Just watched France vs. Brazil: good game, and congratulations France! The team I was rooting for won, which I'm happy about.

Zidane played really well, and Henry's (two) goal(s) were pretty nice (the one was off sides, so it doesn't count).

South America is out, now it's all Europe. Should be interesting.

I actually wanted Brazil to win, just because I like Ronaldinho. They put up a good fight in the closing minutes of that game, and had one or two very good opportunities in the last two minutes, but couldn't finish it. It was a good game.

wow...the France/Brazil match was one of the better games of the cup yet. I expected better play from Brazil. France really deserved the game. Brazil just wasn't near as sharp as they have been in the past and France really had good touch and control. On a side note, the last game in a world cup Brazil lost was to France in 98' in the finals. France truly has Brazil's number . I like Zidane so I didn't mind France taking the win.

I wouldn't go that far, I belive Brazil's record (in the world cup) against France is 1-2-1, including the loss today. And at the end of the day, what really matters is winning the whole tournament, which Brazil has done 5 times. France has only won once, but maybe this year is number 2.
