I heard that there was a lot of racial stuff coming from the Germans? Like they are chanting "white power" and stuff. Any truth to this?

^ ive seen everygame thus far..None in english that I can recall but people got it all wrong NO GERMAN fan goes to see another team plays..How many german fans went to see Poland And ecuador?? what about England and Paraguay?? so yea..only fans com eot cheer theire own team..media likes to spread stuff.

I haven't heard anything being said about racism on German television, and one would think they'd report about that if it were true.

Of course, I haven't been watching the news that much, so I might have missed something.

I do, though, find it hard to believe that most Germans would be so racist, since Germany has quite a number of non-white citizens..

There are actually parts of germany that "foreign looking" people are being advised to avoid if possible because of racism in those areas... its a good thing england ain't hosting the world cup because if that was the case people would be advised not to come at all

Well JimDalf we are hosting the Olympics in 2012 so we will see a preview of what might happen if we do host a World Cup, I doubt it would be that bad though. It would most likely be held in London and theres a huge variety of people down there (large diversity) so i doubt there would be much trouble. I would have actually thought it would be bad in Germany considering their failed history of rasicm.

Anyway... The Holland (Netherland) - Serbia game just finished. I only watched the game from the 70th minute so i havent really got anything to say. I did see a few yellow cards handed out though, there was bout 3 or 4 handed out in the last 20 minutes which says to me the refferee was slightly... well... g@y. Van Der Sar played great for the part I saw apart from he went down a couple of times with suspected cramps.

Final Score: Netherlands 1 - 0 Serbia & Montenegro (sp?)

USA has their first game of the World Cup tommorow, I really want to see that as I have never seen the USA team play in anything big so I will see if they live upto expectations.

From what I've discovered, the "right" (politically right) scene is becoming a bit more popular among youths again because of certain immigration issues, etc. While I wouldn't consider it exactly Neo-Nazism, there are quite a number of teens who are complete idiots and don't understand anything but mindless, blind, and unbased hatred.

I didn't think it was that popular, as there are more (at least I think the statistics I saw said this a while back) openly "preaching" Neo-Nazis in the US than here in Germany.

As for England: from what I've heard about "hooligans", I will admit that I think of England as much worse than here. Not necessarily racism, but just fanatical "patriotism". I actually think that's what's happening here now (it's really not as large scale as the media protrays, though). I don't think the people that are inciting violence are inherently racist; I think they're trying to "show patriotism" in a ridiculous manner by doing whatever they're doing against foreigners. That's not really racism, as they'd likely start a fight with an Englishman or a Frenchman just as readily as, say, a Spaniard or Turk.

Just tell me this: which is easier to spot in a crowd of white people?

With all that said, I can't condone the ridiculous behavior of these ignorant sports fans, though. They disgust me in every respect, but must be understood in my opinion. Personally, I hope a boat-load of explosives kills every racist, sexist, etc. on the planet...

And by the looks of it, Mexico just beat Iran 3-1.

Also in just over an hour the next game should start: I'm definitely going to have to say Portugal is going to win...

I don't normally watch the World Cup, but since the Stanley Cup finals are so boring right now I figured it's better than nothing. I was hoping that Serbia would win, but I guess not.

By the way, did anybody see when Iran came onto the field today? There was alot of booing. I guess their president isn't too popular with saying the holocaust never existed and all. Oh and just a thought, I don't understand why the american channels don't show all the opening stuff before the games starts like univision(spanish channel)does.
