Personally, I think it's a load of bunk. It seems way too soon for Sony to be considering this, the pictures up there are nothing like the sleek, glossy PS3 we know (and love?), it appears to be coming from the land of blatant lo-tech rip-offs, and I don't think the PS3 is successful enough to warrant a slimline version anyway.
Still, these pictures go a little way to convincing me otherwise, but they just don't feel right. Maybe it's really a PopStation 3.
Sony has officially said they have no idea what the pictures are of pertaining to the slimline ps3 and they are still denying that there is on in production. I doubt there is one in production as well but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s announced at E3 either.

Sony always deny any rumour of any kind until they get to show whatever it is off themselves. I'm really not sure what to believe at this point. The site that originally hosted the pictures has been hit with a C&D order apparently, so who knows..?

All video game companies deny rumors until they are ready to announce them. I was just saying what Sony’s official stance on it was. I won’t be surprised if they do make a slimline PS3. People want a price cut; I can see Sony selling the slimline PS3 for regular price and the old PS3 at a discount. It would be a good way to clear stock and move systems. We'll probably have to wait a few weeks to get the offical word.

How many more features can they cut? They already got rid of backward compatibility, what else is there to get rid of? The only thing I can think of is maybe take out the HDD and go back to memory cards but I can never see that happening at it would be one of the worst moves ever. I really can’t think of anything they can cut out of it and still keep it pretty much the same system.

I can't see them doing it either, but it might not be as far fetched as you think. Memory cards come in giant capacities these days, and I don't suppose it would take much to tell the PS3 to use one as though it were a HDD.
I'm pretty sure if it got smaller, they'd have a lot of over heating issues and melt.

BD Drives can be made a hell of a lot smaller, and that alone won't overheat. The Cell and the GPU were both reported to be reduced in size soon, which won't cause as much heat. However, if they do make a slim PS3, it most likely has an external power supply, rather than an internal one.

exactly what i was thinking. Maybe they throw in some almost standard accessories and ps2 emulation and maybe that will stimulate some sales. but who nkows. maybe this is a huge fake.

I don't know about this... The ps3 in the photo in your first post and the ones in the "click here for more" look completely different.. I was starting to believe it until I saw all the photos, I really don't think sony would get rid of the glossy texture (even though its a dust magnit) but most of sony's products made in the past 2 years either have a glass border or a glossy finish. I just don't think they would go back to the ps2 look with charcol black.
