I'm not usually as pissed off as I sound. I just think and speak with ****-tonnes of profanity. See? I know of other measurements of weight, but they are less prominent for me. I was part of a debate a few weeks back and said of the other team that "their defence is simply that they are not the worst bastards in the world", and I was on the verge of telling the judges to "wait one god-damned minute" at the end so I could tell them how wrong they were. The only reason I didn't say it was that I do not like to interrupt people. I'm not overly aggravated when I say these things, it just happens. I don't **** about with regard to being brutally honest, though it is somewhat stupid that I'm often incapable of actually saying what I mean- I intend to say that my food is delicious, but it sounds like I've just eaten a bowl of slug faeces.

Conversely, when I am excessively polite and employ an excess of 'big' words, the recipient should run.

Even the professional teams just end up yabbering at each other about green car this and low house that, to the extent that hearing and then processing the information is difficult. On a real life battlefield, which is usually devoid of rampant accusations of camping and anti-semetic rants, soldiers are meant to shut the **** up unless something is actually worth saying, so that important communications can be heard.

Basically, every game that has open comms ends up being an ordeal, and thats why I don't speak anymore.
Yea...real life battlefield being compared to a video game? Usually you have some very insightful and spot on comments, Jim, but this one I can't get behind. The social aspect of online gaming is one of the main reasons people play games to begin with.

In regards to heavy breathers - you ever let someone know their mic is a little too close and to fix it? I've always had success doing that. Some people may not realize they're even doing it to begin with..and with so many different mics/headsets and varying sensitivities, you just never know.

Fair enough. Setting my example on a battlefield was misleading as to the nature of the communication. I am not interested in super serious information-only speaking. Its a game, it is meant to be fun. How about sitting in a restaraunt chatting with your friends? Even here, when somebody is speaking, you don't speak over them unless it is very important/funny. Limit the input somebody is allowed to have, and the value of their input increases. So on SOCOM, if somebody wanted to chat with a friend, they would wait until they were dead, or at least wouldn't do it at the start of the round. If they wanted to have a fight with the other team, they had to wait until the end and even then there were fewer fights than you get on CoD because it is so much easier to argue when you don't have to wait for your turn and can just shout to be heard over others. It wasn't perfect on SOCOM because sometimes the game would allow only a handful of people to speak, but it is better than open comms.

Basically, the bad aspects of voice chat are allowed to run rampant and the good points, while not removed entirely, are surpressed.

The first time I got shot at I couldn't stop ****ing laughing. I don't know why. Just a reaction. I think because I was finally tested and showed myself I could do it and not freeze up. Definitely wasn't a highlight for our battlefield communictions haha.

    Any. ******g. Time.

I will shun the woman and society for old times sake. I practically grew up with y'all making gay jokes and laughing at Otter. I'd love to get some peoples on a few times before Socom is nothing but a memory. There's a decent amount of people that have my number, text or call if anyone wants to play. If you don't have my number feel free to Pm me and we can sext at night and stuffs.

I work all day tomorrow, but Wednesday after I fishing painting one of my fish tank stands I will be blowing the dust off my PS2, hooking it up and will be on. Hopefully I still have my old tag...

My copy of Socom 2 just sits here and collects dust now that I have a slim PS3, and moved my fatty PS3 to the living room for movie watching purposes.

This was devastating news to me. I didn't play along with you guys, but I had my fair share of endless nights as the youngin' on there. Voted out of plenty of rooms because I was so young, but once I found people that liked me it was a great time. lol. We can all hipe that maybe one day they'll release a PS3/4 version of this game, I would be on that like white on rice.

I was looking at how dead the forums appear to be, and I got to thinking of how hoppin' this place was during the S3 days. Consequently it makes me really think about all the things associated with Socom. Can't believe the sheer amount of hours and good times put into these games, as well as dedication to this forum. The saddest thing is how the last 8 years for me I have been playing a game in the series and had some connection to a person I met through these games. I can definitely say my ties to this game hardly are exist anymore, but I'll carry the wealth of memories from it probably forever. I remember doing LAN parties with friends, clan wars with my high school football teammates and a group of guys I met from Boston 7 years ago whom I still talk to to. I can remember some matches clear as day even. Sad to see it end.

Man, where has the time gone? I've played once since hearing about this. Only one ******g time and I hate it. I have two days left and I didn't have the time I needed to play the game as much as I wanted to. Getting older and having more responsibilities kind of sucks when you think about it in this kind of perspective. :(
