No other game has actually given me adrenaline boosts besides S2. Being that last guy alive against a few of them is intense. Best game I've ever played.

CoD4 GB and MLG clutching a win against multiple opponents on a proven team as the last alive on S&D is right up there for me, especially when it is the last round.

Eh that may be too, but s2 was the best overall team game ever made. The whole concept of the game was based on teamwork, so right there you've got a winner. What was more fun than making a super sick plan on sujo seals and executing it to perfection with a bomb plant victory? MMMMMMmmmmm so sweet.

Exactly. No other game has ever had this cohesion.

Search & Destroy on COD4 was THE closest thing I've found and played that resembled and somewhat replicated the overall fun, challenging, cohesiveness, and adrenaline-inducing qualities that Socom had.

I'm not saying that in a negative way either towards Socom..but ever since we stopped playing those games there's just a missing piece, so to say, in every FPS I pick up.

I've been playing Socom 4 lately (been bored) and I've found the majority of guys still playing it use tactics and communication like Socom 2. It's obviously nothing like Socom 2 but it has that tactical feel to it because of how it's played. Been quite fun.

I still don't think S4 is THAT bad, but it's just so different (which is what they wanted). I can't remember what game mode is is now, some form of COOP, but it's actually insanely fun (and hard as ****). I played that a few times with no other than Marvin_Wang, miss that bastard.

I don't miss holding down the circle button forever trying to get some talk time in when I wasn't the host though...

With open mic less people use communication I've found. Or maybe that's just Socom 1 and 2 versus all other shooters. Was it annoying? Sometimes. but a lot less annoying than having stupid idiots blasting music.

Either that, or it's listening to people chew their food over an open mic... cough*PUNX*cough.

Communication is naturally inhibited when I am forced to mute every other player with a mic, due to loud music, echo, obnoxious bull**** or heavy breathing... push to talk is the way forward, outside of serious teams. It invites people to say that which needs to be said, and no more. Even the professional teams just end up yabbering at each other about green car this and low house that, to the extent that hearing and then processing the information is difficult. On a real life battlefield, which is usually devoid of rampant accusations of camping and anti-semetic rants, soldiers are meant to shut the **** up unless something is actually worth saying, so that important communications can be heard.

Basically, every game that has open comms ends up being an ordeal, and thats why I don't speak anymore.
