Ocarina of Time - How the hell does it still remain the best Game?
The Zelda: Ocarina of time still manages to stay at the top of video-game rankings even after 10 years of release.
What makes this game so unique ? Does anyone else feel this game deserves the no:1 spot like it currently does ?
Just an another Question , games like Ocarina and Shenmue had already developed and refined the sandbox genre 3 years before GTA was released. Then why does GTA get the technical CREDIt ? GTA only added violence to the existing Sandbox formula already laid down by Ocarina and Shenmue..........
No one is probably going to discuss this with you but there are so many things wrong with those statements. I just wanted to say: Ocarina of time is not a sandbox game, if that was the case, every rpg with a 3d world map would be one. THats a fact, and thats all im going to say. I will not argue with you, because its pointless.

Yes, i know that no one will call Ocarina a Sandbox game. Thats the whole point i asked this question. I mean ,What's the difference between What we CAN do in Ocarina and GTA3, as far as the technical definition of the word "sandbox " goes ? The meaning of a Sandbox game is not " A 3D WORLD MAP" ( if you dont know this) , .... It means a game where you could ignore the main game objectives and explore the world like a sandbox....
You know what, even Assasins creed is called a Sandbox game. BASICALLY whats the difference btw Ocarina and Assasins C'reed style ? Does your definition of SANDBOX change to accomodate what AC was, but not what Ocarina is ?
I would like to know what makes GTA3 a sandbox game, while Ocarina not ? Please give me a good Technical explanation , based on what the REAL DEFINITION of SANDBOX is ..... This is just a question which people do ask a lot , coz technically it's worthwhile.
There are a number of reasons why Ocarina is still the greatest game in history, but those reasons are fairly obvious so I'll save you the redundancy of having to listen to them all. However, I will name a few of the reasons.
Even by today's standards, it plays better than any game on any system. Period. The modern theory of game design was built around Ocarina, and for good reason. The game is practically a walking patent office for things that are commonplace in games now. Even after 10 years, the game is deep, compelling, and just downright fun to play. No other game has had the same kind of longevity. It's also a virtually flawless masterpiece of game design. It also revolutionized 3D games as we know them. Mario 64 was the first game to show the potential of 3D gaming, and Ocarina took the same concepts and ran with them, very, very far. The brilliant lock-on battle system, flawless camera, and sprawling 3D worlds are just a few of the many things the game defined for the industry. Quite honestly, I doubt gaming is ever going to take another step like that (though the Wii has that kind of potential with a good developer and the new WiiMotionPlus 1:1 tracking) so the chances of Ocarina EVER being ousted as #1 are slim. Maybe if virtual reality ever becomes a reality...but that is doubtful, at least in our lifetime.

Nice post...
This game is phenomenal in many aspects, but which Zelda game isn't? I think the best part of any video game is the storytelling; this is what adds memories to the gaming experience. Games like Mario, Zelda, and Castlevania (which is actually my favorite series) will live forever because of the deep, rich, and compelling stories they provide gamers with; Fans stay intriqued and wait with great anticipation for the next sequel.
Gamers who play these games share a universal experience because these games have no difficulty settings but are extremely challenging and mind bending.
now i have seen alot of top llists in the past 10 years from numerous magazines and orginizations, and rarely have i seen zelda at the top of the list. Argueably, Tetris and Mario 64 are the best video games of all time, as ive seen it at the top lists numerous times. O and through alittle net searching, i was ****ing right, some guy did some actual research with references. Zelda is up there, but its not the greatest.

yes it does and why because then they took there time in makin a game and listend to what the gamers wanted and didnt over hype it and rush it just to try and get the raitings they want but it wont also they didnt like the game to be Sh!tty they wanted it to be good and also the ones that were ahead n those project probly got fired or something cause the world is getting to coporate because back then they cared about game play not focusing souly on grafics

OOT is an amazing game and is one of the BEST video games as well as one of the BEST Zelda games ever made. However I still like A Link to the Past more.
The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time, was and always will remain, a classic.
Despite the graphics not measuring up to today's "standards" back when It was made, those graphics were considered decent. Basically, the game had an awesome plot, the gameplay was awesome, and It provided just the right challenge. Eg. the water temple was rather challenging.
I think it's so great because of the kickass storyline.
And the game is so challenging, I think that's what makes it fun.
And the fact that you could like summon shit with your ocarina, the whole concept of that is epic.
I think it's a phenomenal game that deserves a good deal of the praise it receives, but I also think it's much like the Final Fantasy VII of Nintendo.
Ocarina of Time was a great game in many respects. It had solid gameplay with dungeons, clever puzzles and rewarding payoff. The music was terrific and it overall was given a lot of character. The environments also added a lot of effect to the game's feel.
But the reason I feel it's overrated is because, while it did pioneer in a lot of areas, it also was not perfected. At the time it was the quintessence of excellency in adventure games, but now it stands as little more than the framework for such games. In fact, I recently got through playing through it with my fiance and I stand by what I always said that it's a solid game, but lacks perfection in many areas.
Ocarina of Time is best summed as a game that had nothing wrong with it, but had a lot that could be improved upon. A lot like the original Zelda, I think people's fond memories of the game can tend to eschew objectivity in determining the overall quality of the game.
Ocarina of Time will always be one of the greatest games ever, along with : Metal Gear Solid, Castelvania Symphony of the Night and Resident Evil: Directors cut. I can play ocarina of time for hours on end..i love how huge that game is..soo fun and epic.
My friend, I think you need to look at that list again. OoT and SMB come up on top five times respectively, more than any other game.
I just noticed this post. WTF are you talking about lol the article lists which game comes up the most times fool. Did you even read it or just skim half the webpage
I know hes never coming back here but still. I was like wth.
