old sega game

i'm looking for an old sega game that i can't really even remember, i was preatty young when i played it.
i do remember there was time travel, and collecting red bottles, potions maybe... i'm preatty sure it was a side scroller too, this game would have come out sometime before 96, 97 at the latest

although when i think about it it could possibly be on another console, but i'm almost certain it's saga.

i wish i had more to go on, if anyone has any ideas at all, i would really like to know what this game is

I have a sega genesis and with the game there came a 6 pack of games and I think one of them your talking about came with it. I think there was also a ninja one, I would have to dig it out though =/

Is it Golden Axe by any chance? (Look for screenshots and see if that's it). I loved that game btw, along with the whole 6 pak thing lol.

I think it was one of my best purchases for the Genesis.
