Metal Gear (MSX/NES/PS2)
Man, I played this game again the other day. I cannot believe how fun and intense an old school game like this could be. I started off with Metal Gear Solid like many people, but I always wanted to know how the story started. I think that the first Metal Gear is definitly the one of the best old school games of all time, and single handedly brought stealth into video games.

Who else loves the original Metal Gear?

I played them when I bought MGS3:Sub, and I'd say that they were pretty fun. The only problem was that I couldn't find the blast suit (or is it bomb suit?) on the first one to get across the roof. And I couln't find a key card or something like that on the second one. But from what I played, I had lots of fun. If I could've found those d*mn items, I would've had so much more fun.

I also played it on MGS3 Substiance(sp?). I hate to admit it but I didnt enjoy it all to much. I think half the fun in MGS games is watching the Cutscenes and really getting into the story, I didnt really get that same feeling with little text boxs. But thats my opinon and I didnt really play to much of either so its probably not a fair judgement.

I played through both games for about an hour, and Kojimasan has definitly hit it off, especially adding them with MGS: Subusistance. The game in general looks better than any NES game I have ever seen.

Yeah, for the time that it came out in, the graphic were pretty good compared to other NES games that were released around the same time. The game is way better on the MSX than the NES though. Nintendo gutted Metal Gear for US release. I love the MSX version. It's how the game was supposed to be played.

Where the hell is the bomb suit? Please tell me.

I played the first one, once I get done with that it's onto the second. I read one of the faqs though so I know the plot of the first game

Great game series period. The best part I loved about MGS on PS was when you fight Psycho Mantis and he reads your "mind" and you have to switch controller ports. That was such an awesome concept. And the cardboard box, classic.

IMO the metal gear series is the best ever. It combines action with stealth and fantasy with reality. The story line is insane through all of them with all the twist and surprises. It's a great game series and with the up coming Metal Gear Solid : Guns of the Patriots it's going to get even better.
