This one has always been my favorite, simply because he has every single move timed out so perfectly. It is amazing.

Then I read up on the hosting site that all the videos they make are tool-assisted. They don't do the entire game in one run of sixteen minutes (they save and load after basically every scene), and they also use the techniques of slow motion and the like.
Still extremely impressive, but not as much as if it were done flawlessly in 16 minutes at full speed.

Yah most speed runs are tool assisted, meaning they are probably using an emulator and save states and edited together to where everything is just perfect and no flaws. They do this for many games, such as the megaman X games (early snes ones)
But they are always entertaining to watch, and it shows it is possible to do.......you just have to be a pro, :p

I have never been able to pull off the bunny gpart these people do. No matter how many times I watch the video, I can never seem to get it to work.
The never ending stairs "Fly up" I have done once, but for some reason I really can't get it to work again.
I watched the 16 minute video, and it is more impressive than the 20 minute one. Just a better overall player, but I'm not sure if it is something to be proud of by beating Mario 64 in 16 minutes, lol.

What I'd like to see is the shortest time someone can get all 120 (I'm not sure if I remember correctly?) stars in a single sitting. I can get all the stars, but it would take several hours. If someone did it in a few hours in a single sitting without doing any resetting...
That would be impressive.

At speed demos archive (usually has up to date records) there is one that has it completed in under 3 hours, not tool assisted

Sadly, I don't play on sitting here and watching the entire thing... It's just a bit too long for my taste. Congratulations to the guy, though!

I enjoyed watching this a lot. I had a lot of fun when Mario 64 came out because it was a great game. It's so hard to explain, it was just AWESOME! the music, monsters, stars, I don't know, I just loved it all. Beating it in 20 minutes is an achievment but I enjoyed my hours of playing the game.
But he cheated with the rabbit!

He cheated on quite a few things. Its impossible to beat the game that quickly without cheating, causs the rabbit got him through doors that needed a lot more stars. But its in the game, so it counts.

It's that kind of attitude right there that gives cheaters an excuse to do just that, cheat. The people who beat that game under 20 minutes should now see how long it takes them to do it legit. Then they'd have something to be proud of.

Oh dont go all ballistic on me. Its a nintendo 64, offline game, and its a SPEED RUN. In a speed run you can use anything in the game as an advantage, find tips and secrets to do it as quick as possible. Im sorry that you have had bad experiences of cheaters on your socom game you play all day. Im sorry you cry in the corner when a cheater gives you a death on your record. But this is a totally different situation.
