ethernet cable disconnected

I've stoped playing socom for about 1 year, and now I want to start playing again, but with socom 2 first (if it isnt dead).

The only problem is that the ps2 doesnt detect the modem. How can I properly shut the modem off the computer and into the ps2.

All I remember is that there is a command that I put in my computer start>run type "cmd" type command line and it would disconnect the network, and when I pluged it into my ps2 it would detect my modem instantly on the first try.

Does anybody know the command? I have read posts but many say wiggle this wiggle that, Press X for 10 seconds blah blah. I hope someone knows the command.
