Does this piss anyone else off?

Those rooms that just say "Sleeping" or "brb" or "Watching a movie" and the like seriously annoy the crap out of me. Are people so addicted that they cannot leave or be idle without letting everyone else know where they are? What are your thoughts?

It doesn't affect me, but if you depend that much on the game, so that to tell your Socom friends where you are all hours of the day, kind of sad.

That's quite true. It is quite sad. And while on this topic with sad in mind, have you ever noticed that none of them say "Getting Laid" or "Out Partying"? It's always "Sleeping" and "BRB" like Red said.

The way I see it, people should just sit idle at the main menu. Allow people to get into the room their clan or friends are in instead of taking up space. Or better yet, just turn it off.

Some people have problems connecting to the internet. So if they log off they might not get back on for a while. Therefore, they just make rooms and idle.

I think some people do it so that way their clan mates or friends can know where the hell they are. Like if you tell your clan members to sign on at 10:00pm, then you want to watch a movie that goes until 10:15pm, you make a room to tell your clan members that you'll be back in a bit. It's just a notification thing. I think leaving AIM on all day and all night when they aren't actually on and chatting is retarded, yet millions of people do that everyday.

Well blind, leving AIM on all day doesn't effect everyone else. It doesn't cause lag and it doesn't take up space. It's also a more effective way of informing your clan members where you're at. You can put more detail into an away message on AIM than you can by making a useless room on Socom.

Could you please explain to me how making a room with a password (that contains only one person who isn't in game) creates lag? What would someone elses empty room have to do with the room you are in? That seems kind of strange, and the space thing shouldn't be an issue, unless you have something like 40 people in one server just sitting there in locked rooms. I guess that could cause a dent in the amount of active people in that particular breifing room. AIM is a great way of letting your clan members know where you are. If my clan mates even used their comps regularly, I'm sure that would be a wonderful option. I guess I would have to go and download AIM to do that too, as would my clan mates. And, if most of my clan mates are like me and can't be on their computers and SOCOM at the same time, it's kind of a waste to put on an away message on AIM that says "I'll brb", then come back, sign off AIM, shut down the comp, transfer the internet cord over to the back of the PS2, run back upstairs, reset my modem, come back down stairs, turn on my PS2, then sign on SOCOM. For me, creating a room on SOCOM with a pass is just an easier way of letting my clan mates know what I'm doing.

If you don't even have AIM, why were you complaining about people signing on and sitting idle?

And about the lag part. I've found that the more rooms that are created in a server, the worse the lag gets. So when someone makes one of these stupid rooms, it just adds to the number of rooms in that briefing room. Some people may go to the one with the lowest number in it, but most don't.

I find them in East 1-10. I like to go into the high easts to play Last Bastion but the briefing rooms are always full. Once I get in I see a lot of these useless message rooms. That's what pisses me off the most about the rooms.
