Not that it matters, I have a slim PS2, but is it worth it?

Yea, like DaNewHomie said, when they were first released in OPM they were worth it. Plus, at the time the HDD was all the rage, now its just an unsupported dead peripheral. Too bad, it was a good idea, just lacked any support from developers.

I have the slim ps2, also, and I'm not upset about not being able to get the new maps. They looked alright, but it seemd like too much of a hassle, especially with the new game coming out in a few weeks. HDD or not, you get all new maps in October.

there is a new HDD out that is compatible with the slim ps2, it plugs in with the USB, and there is a site for hackers (i forget the name) that figured out how to hook up a reg HDD for the old ps2, and be able to hook it up to the slim one. they explain how and all.

The regular maps are fine, no need for the other ones.

Yeah.. too bad fiinal fantasy costs $100. It's a waste of money and just another piece of hardware for the PS2 that will never be used fully, just like the eyejoy camera.

After Hours is a suppression in a city with subways. It's about as dark as sujo with more street lights. IMO it's a cool respawn map but as a supression map its a campers paradise which makes for boring play.

Last Bastion is a breach map that most people complain is too hard to play as a seal. It's the size of foxhunt with a castle on an enowapi feel. It's a great map but really requires coordination and teamwork. It resembles the first mission in single player.

Liberation is my favorite. It's an extraction map that like I feel actually gives smart seals the advantage similar to the way the Mixer does. It's pretty much non-stop action with plenty of suspense.

And the answer to your question....
It's not worth it at all to purchase the HDD now unless you get it for like 50 bucks and you just happen to find 50 bucks in the street. The HDD is useless and I doubt anything else will be made for it. The nail in the HDD's coffin was the introduction to the noncompatible slim PS2.

The HDD is a $100 Paperweight.

I was talking with a guy on SOCOM II one day and I heard him say that.. I cracked up.
