Did you tell your dad the types of things people say online and that the reason it's rated mature and that he had to give permission for you to buy it is because it is meant for adults? Alot of parents remember video games like Frogger and Pacman. They have no clue how far they've come. They also don't realize that these games are made for older generations. People who grew up gaming and love it too much to put the controller down. These games are not made for children. In my opinion, the only reason a child would be online on this game is 1) the parent is misinformed about the content of the game and environment online or 2) the parent really doesn't care as long as the child is out of their hair which is very irresponsible and extremely bad parenting. I expect every child to argue with what I'm saying. Children think they know everything. I know I sure did when I was younger. The difference between kids back in my day and kids now is they have absolutely no sense of respect, manors or morals. Their behaviour is totally unexeptable and I stand by my belief that if I had their phone numbers and called their parents and told them the types of things that happen online they would never allow them to participate in this version of the game.

I've heard news that age verification will be required for Socom 3. I hope and pray this is true.

I agree with Truly I hope there is an age verification and I also hope that there will be more monitering on the game as far as glitchers go. I myself get online to play and have fun with people that I know and enjoy playing with. I hate it when my time is ruined due to immature poeple old and young.

Kids really need to stay off the game because there was this dude asking this 9 yr old all types of ugly unapprop things. If you fathers like it when you little boy get harrassed by somr dip $hit thats your prob, but if I had a son he would not be playin on line period.

Perfect example:

Last night this kid and one of his clan mates who was older joined our room on the opposite team. No one said one word to this kid but when we got to the lobby he started calling our entire clan "b*tches". Not only did he feel the need to verbally attack us totally unprovoked, but one of our guys had to be on the opposite team to make the teams even (who is also a kid) and he team killed our guy every round. We got to the lobby and there was more of the same. This kid could've made a sailor blush with the language he was using. The clanmate attempted to defend the little kid but knew he was out of line so tried to stay out of it. When the next map started, 2 of our guys joined their team and team killed the little kid until they got an apology. When we returned to the lobby... all was well. The kid behaved like he should've been all along and everyone was happy.

This could've all been avoided had a child not been on the game at 12:30 am. At least keep them off during late night hours for God sakes.

Zipper knows that lot's of little kids play this game, so that's why they have certain word filters, I mean since PS2 online is free that's what most parents will go for, figuring that since they don't have to pay an online fee everythings gonna be great.

I don't think I've ever been in a game where someone wasn't talking about sex or calling eachother the nastiest words they could think of. Not to mention the taunts.

What's worse (in my opinion) is that I see alot of children on after midnight central. What ever happened to having a curfew? Some of these kids are as young as 8. I just think it's sad and wondered if any of you had any opionions on this. After all, the game is rated "mature" and I think it's extremely bad parenting. There was a kid on yesterday who I'd LOVE to have his home number so I could call his mother and let her know some of the things he said.
I think you hit the nail on the head. My clan leader's girlfriend lets her son play Socom, but only a limited time, and only without a mic. She only trusts him with a mic when he's playing just with our clan, as she knows us well. On the other hand, I have no problem playing with children for the most part, if they're decent kids.
