I had this exact same problem until couple days ago. You need to release your ip address. Go to run and type in cmd
, the command prompt should come up and then type in ipconfig/release and press enter. After this exit the command prompt and go connect the modem to the Network Adapter and you should connect on first try.

There it is incase anyone else has the same problem

I HAVE THE PROBLEM SOLVED ALREADY

çhèéçh that helped a lot but when I pluged the modem back in my PC I could not connect to the internet. I clicked repair but it still didnt work. I unpluged the modem and waited about 1 hr then I was able to connect on my PC. Is there a script code thing that will enable the modem to connect faster?

when you reconect it to your pc, and if it doesn't log in, try typing in ipconfig/renew

Where do you buy your routers from? Mine was $50!! And it only has 2 other outlets for ethernet cords.

If you have your PC and your PS2 on , with a Router you'll Lag sooner or later . Unless you're sure that all the IE attacks and spam is blocked 100% , if some slips by you will lag 100% .
Trust me I have a Router and a connection that's as strong as a T3 , And I lag if someone is using my PC for downloads/uploads ( until i've used below) .
If you have to use the PC , then my best advice is to get the beta version of Microsoft anti-spyware , it's the best utility that microsoft has released so far . It realy works , it's free , it's very fast (7~8 mins for a whole check up) , and it will protect you better than the payed antiviruses outthere .

PS2 downstairs, computer upstairs, No cable long enough. Can't get wireless since it'll lag.

I've noticed that people always only read the original post, and then they post

routers are definately worth it... and u can hook up heaps of stuff. I dont know bout the modem. If u r gonna buy a router why not just buy a router/modem in one.
