Hey Cookie Monster,
You seriously thought of applying with SOTG? Wow.
I hear ASF is looking for a few guys. Why don't you stop on by:
www.goasf.us
And Texas,
We have many "General Officers" as well, just because we have been around THAT long, and our guys have come up through the ranks over the past 3 and half years. There are more purposes to our membership fee, than just prizes and products, though, and those are just provided so that we (I) don't make any money off the clan.
The true purpose of the membership fee is to discourage minors and "clan-hoppers" from joining SOTG. Nothing is more irritating than adding someone to rosters, welcoming them aboard and showing them the ropes just to have them leave for the first shiny object that passes by. We want dedicated, adult members, and we all believe that this is the best way to accomplish that.
I understand if you have a hard time seeing why someone would pay $25 to "join a clan," but it's a little more than that for many of us, and if you ask around, you'll find that everyone who is currently in SOTG (and that's a lot of people), is gladly paying the $25. In fact, some have donated several hundred to the cause, and others have offered to pay for our members who cannot afford their membership fee.
We have a rare, but good community in SOTG, and most people just don't understand it, because they are so used to seeing chaos -- a civil and organized clan of our size just seems impossible, or too good to be true. Fortunately, we've worked very hard to accomplish the impossible, and it's not only good -- it's great.
