As for choosing rooms without lag, its all about the number of guys in the actual game. If you find lag to be a big problem try finding rooms with 12 max players or even 10, instead of the normal 16.
BTW How do you like it down there? My girlfriend and I talk all the time about going to the Caribbean and becoming scuba instructors :)

Thanks, last night was just terrible for me. Could stay in a game for 10 seconds and got lagged out
I just went to find rooms with less then 100 people and then try to find missions with less then 6 people in it, that worked fine.
Well a lot clear blue water down here to dive my friend. I am in the southern caribbean.

Don't base it on # of people in breifing rooms, base it on number of people in the game you want to join, if it has a max of 10 people, you should be good. But if it's say... Desert Glory, FF, Fish Hook, anything where a lot of grenades are thrown off the bat, and the max is 16 people, I'd stay away.
P.S. If you are down there...you get the North America and INTL server right?

Yes I get both servers, but International hasn't really worked well for me, so always go to North America.
Might be because I am in a 3rd world country. :D
But then again, when servers keep kicking me out, I just go to the beach.

Need Help
Ok so you know I have lag problems.
What do I have to do to get this solved?
I connect with 103 kbs down (14 kbs up)
I got voted out last night due to lagging, so is there any solution for me or should I just give up playing socom and find myself a new game.

it's not that complicated
Really, there are two reasons for lag. The most common though isn't even lag at all. Take a look at the difference between socom I and II. The graphics are orders of magnitude better in Socom II, but it's running on the same hardware. The problem is that the playstation just can't handle it. Then when everybody throws grenades at the begining of the round (like in fishhook), when you go to shoot there are not enough cpu cycles left. Everything lags up. This happens to some extent in every 8v8 game. Bitter Jungle is the prime example of this kind of "lag". However when you go 2v2 in bitter jungle, it stops lagging so bad. You aren't putting as much a strain on the cpu. I think the developers of SII spent too much time on the graphics without making them efficient.

That's it.
I just found I am getting ripped off by the (only) local DSL provider.
I am paying $70 a month to get 128kbs (32kbs up). That is just to expensive and the worst part of it all is, that I only get like 103kbs and (13.6 kbs up) when connected.
This island is just brutal! scumbags running things here, I'll go back to my dial-up to surf the net. When in the near future they drop their price or get some other company to break the monopoly, I'll be back again!
Have Fun.

yeah right, no lag at all, what a load of crap that is, I have extreme high speed and I still get lag sometimes, I have 5MB download and 3MB upload so I disagree with the whole lagg/host thing.

Being host is actually where the lag is the least... most times.. I mean if you have a normal connection and your host, you really shouldn't experience lag unless someone else is lagging bad.. but if you have a lousy connection and your host, everyone will lag bad, including yourself...
