Look on the cover of your Socom2 game....looking at it? Yes, it say BROADBAND ONLY. This basicly means you cannot get online with dialup.

I don't know if this is a connection problem but sometimes when I'm in games the controler just stops working, it's on but nothing works, I unplug and plug it back in but nothing happens.

mod chips can be turned off, if u happen to have a mod chip or anything of the kind follow these steps, just try it out anyways even if you dont:
1. Flip the power switch on
2. hold the reset button until it turns green
3. Try Connecting
Alternate Method:
1. Flip the power switch on
2. Open the disc tray and close it
3. Turn off the power switch
4. Wait a few seconds
5. Turn on the power switch
6. Hold the reset button until it turns green
7. Try connecting
well thats all i got...i think, or unplug any unnessecary items connected to your PS2, game sharks, 2nd hand controllers, extra memory cards, hardware, software or any kind of object made by a market other than sony eg. madcatz
then try again, it should work

Avoid unplugging ANYTHING while having your PS2 turned on. Example: If you unplug your mic, it wont work until you re-boot your PS2. Thats a hassle.
That may not be the same as the controller, but keep it in, if this problem continues buy a new controller, if it happens with that, you can return the controller and get your money back. If none of that helps, or works, you might need a new PS2. Chips burn out man, if you use your PS2 alot then it is a deffinate possibility that a chip inside is just on its last legs. This can be fixed, I do not know anything about costs, but if it is like a broken laser (which it isn't because it isn't nearly as complex) then it could run you up to 100 bucks. Hope this post helped, good luck

most likely more than a hundred bucks, but if u really do need to fix your PS2, ask them to check it first, so u dont get cheated out of 100 bucks

Unbearable lag.
The last couple months on SOCOM II have been a big fight for me. I have steady lag every 3-6 seconds of people running on the spot. The worst part is on other people's screen I'm not lagging. (BIG disadvantage...). So I've tried messing around with the router/modem (opening ports, powering off, enabling DMZ) but the problem didn't improve at all. I'm out of ideas and I'm wondering if this problem has occured for anyone else or someone they may know.
The CD isn't in the greatest condition and I'm wondering if another problem with the patch is the problem. Although there was a long period of time after the patch where I had no lag, it still has always said something like "a patch is available for download" on the select universe screen at the bottom. I'm tempted to delete all the stuff off my 1 and only memory card and see if that is the problem but then that will erase all my time wasted to get the extra characters. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.
