PS2 HDD question/answer thread

I bought the HDD the first day it came out and installed it quickly hopeing to dowload some new maps.. I was wrong. This thing has just been sitting in the back of my PS2 collecting dust! WHERE ARE THE DOWNLOADS!!?

I've read that article before, and, quite frankly, I don't know what to think. I mean, there is the part of me with my hopes up, thinking that they wouldn't screw us over again with false information.

But then there is the other side of me that thinks they would screw us over again, what do they care? Plus, it's only a rumor, that's the whole point of that section of the site. Oh well....

Not sure if you guys heard but there is a new slimmer version of the PS2.

"SCPH-70000, will officially hit stores on November 3 in Japan and November 1 in North America and Europe." - IGN.COM

What does this have to do with the HDD? Everything. In the article at the same source ( http://ps2.ign.com/articles/549/549938p1.html)
it states "What's particularly interesting about the new SCPH-70000, however, is that it cannot use the Hard Drive (HDD)"

You guys, this means that Sony feels that the HDD is a dud. Think about it...think back to lets say 20 years ago...if a computer came of with a new invention, the mouse, there's a hype and everything, but no ones buys it. The new computer rolls out and there is no port for the mouse. Don't you think that the compnay felt the mosue is a dud?

Same with the HDD, how can the new version of PS2 not have the HDD? Well basically they're trying to slowly get rid of it. What kind of company would put out an upgrade "software" and not make it compatible with the new version of the "hardware"? A company wouldn't do that because they're stupid, they did it for a reason!

They could've easily made like a serial port for the HDD to the slimmer version of the HDD, but they didn't...

It's a vidéo, in the line of the "korean socom 2 release with new maps to be downloaded soon in the US" images that most have identified as fakes.

The video looks really scrapy to me, with bizarre things like :

- "all rank" specified (dont remember this on the game),
sometimes pictural korean (forgot how to say this in english :
ideograms maybee??), then sometimes pure alphabetical scrips.

- bizarre cases and fonts compared to what I remember as common in socom 2.

anyway, i'm sceptic about it, and feel one good artist is fooling a load of people....

I'm wondering if you have any feedback on this, as it interests me and other european so-lag 2 players. since north america allways have it months before us, maybee you have interesting feedback ?
