I have noticed neither. Some people think the lag has improved considerably, but in my expirence it is the same as it was. I hear a lot of people online also complaining that they got the HDD and the lag is worse or the same. If you only want the HDD for socom 2 I would not recommend getting it yet. Watch the fourms, it'll be easy to tell when the maps are out.

As for graphics, look the same to me. I'm not using high-def, progressive scan, CMYK, component video or anything. But they look the same none-the-less.

I don't think the HDD is supposed to improve either of them. When people thought the patch and HDD was going to change the lag is beyond me.

7 pages of wasted time!!!
I just read through all the post on this forum and when I got to the end I found out my time was completly wasted. Due to the fact that everyone who "hears" something comes on the forum and posts it like they know that these rumors are true.

Second the farther I got through the pages and pages of B.S. I noticed that most people dont even read the posts on the forum that give real information about the HDD. Way before I even heard about the HDD I noticed that there was an option on Socom 2 to enable the HDD
I am going to assume for myself that there will be content for Socom 2.

My personal opinion is anyone who ran out and bought the HDD for the content for Socom 2 is a complete idiot. I am about to purchase the HDD for myself for the other features that the HDD has. I cant see how anyone can complain about the content not being out for Socom 2 because the HDD is not packaged with Socom 2, also anyone who is bashing another game such as the new Final Fantasy is ignorant. Certain people like certain games due to personal gaming prefrences. Just because a certain game is not a game you would enjoy that makes it "g@y" or for "f.ags".

There is a couple things that would make this forum alot better for the purpose like people only posting information about stuff in dedicated threads such as this one ( dedicated to information on HDD ) That they know about and not heard and they can back up with links to Official Information.

Next I think it would help if people read the post on the forums before they start complaining or asking about information that has been discussed in earlier posts but people are to lazy to read.

If anyone gets some real information on the HDD content that may or may not be available for Socom 2 or a date please do me a quick favor and e-mail me at clanzRo@lycos.com. It would be extremely appreciated.

Here is what I can DIG up from researching this wonderful thing called the Internet. None of this is anything that I have HEARD. So read for yourself.

SCEA Gamers' Day: HDD Announcement

States that Socom 2 will be one of the first games that you will be able to find content for

http://news.gaminghorizon.com/media/1063749688.html

PS2 HDD arrives stateside in March '04

States that there should be faster loading times, a ps2 media player, custom game music, and downloadable content as well as other pretty neat sounding stuff.

http://www.neowin.net/comments.php?c...amers&id=13781

Brief: Sales data, HDD price, FFXI fees, and game info!

Says everything about including another comment on fast loading times

http://www.gaming-age.com/news/2003/9/16-73

PSX Press realease

Has nothing to do with HDD content for socom 2 but speaks about new built in Hard Drive. I just though some people might be intrested in future HDD specs.

http://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/News/Pr...310/03-1007E/\

This is all I have found at the moment on the HDD this took me a half and hour to research and hopefully it will solve as many questions as i can that people have about it. I will post more info as soon as i find it.

Ok scarface i know you like to rag on everyone cuz there is no good info, well guess what you didn't give us anything new eigther. I have seen all of those links before so you are just like the rest of us. What do you think these forums are for. It is for people to bounce ideas off others and get feedback. So go back to doing your research and stop bagging on people.

Just understand, people, that when they talk about "faster loading times" with the HDD, they are referring to games that can partially or fully INSTALL and LOAD program code from the HDD. So no, Socom 2 isn't suddenly going to magically load faster because you installed an HDD, nor will graphics or any other aspect of the game suddenly improve or change at all. The only support for HDD with this game comes in the form of new downloadable content, none of which is available yet. That is all.

i am pissed...
I went to go load that whole "PLAY ONLINE" portion of the hdd, after a good hour of trying to set this piece of cr@p up, it gets around to asking me for a credit card. All i want to do is mess around with the e-mail and stuff but im not going to pay for it. And on top of that, on the hdd packaging it says you can d/l audio cd to the hdd and create a jukebox and stuff. Well i cant figure out how to do it. I tried the move to and stuff but its not there, anyone got any ideas?

Ya, it's got a 30 day free trial. But in order to setup an accound you have to enter a CC number so that if you wish to purchase an accound it has your info on file.

I relised after I entered my information that my credit card information was wrong... oops... account still works.

There is nothing on the back/box of mine (Canadian.) I wonder if there were 2 batches? Hrm, interesting. My box also says you need to enter a valid credit card number for FF and play online.

From what I've been reading, Sony had announced the hard drive would be released with this multimedia/jukebox software. However they backtracked on this, and pulled the press releases off their website several months later. On some other forums people are speculating on wether you will be able to download this later, or if you will have to purchase it seperatly. And because I scream at everyone else for this... here's 2 links for ya:
