I was having the same problems, and it took a few steps. First of all, go into your router ip address (192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 most likely). Then, type in admin for the password, no username.
Click on the advanced settings tab in the upper right hand corner. Then click on the forwarding tab. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click on the "View Port Range Forwarding"
Type in a name on the top line underneath Customized Applications, something like PS2. Set the "Ext Port" to "6869 to 6869" Check both the Protocal TCP and Protocal UDP boxes. Then enter in an ip address for the PS2, where the first three fields would be identical to your routers first field (meaning if your router is 192.168.1.1 then the ip address you assign your PS2 would begin with 192.168.1.xxx) Give it a high number something like 200. Check the enable box to the right.
Click apply and make sure it says changes made or something to that effect.
Now, load your network adaptor disk into your PS2, and go into settings, and click on the file you saved your network settings. Click on set network id, or something like that, and enter in the ip address you put in for your ps2 above, (192.168.1.200) or whatever you entered. Save it.
Okay, almost there, ip address in the playstation is set, the router is configured to open the port, but now you need to update your firmware. Despite saying linksys, the router is really a network everywhere and you can find the firmware update at there website
www.networkeverywhere.com
click on the support tab, click on your router, (NR041). Click on firmware upgrade, it will relocate the screen down, and then you need to click where it says "click here for the latest..."
Read the readme file, follow the instructions, upgrade your firmware, (note if your ps2 is online at the time, it will lose its connection)
All these things should take care of the problem it took care of mine. There were a few other things i did but i won't get into them as they probably didnt make too much of a difference but if anyone else is having trouble with this particular router, go ahead and post and i will be glad to offer any more help
