Guitar discussion

Who else on the forums play guitar? I can't play, YET, but I got a guitar about a week ago and am really looking forward to making guitar a hobby of mine.

I know a few chords and am trying to get the intro of Sweet Child O' Mine down, but that's it, .

That be my guitar and amp.

Schecter Omen 6

and

Fender 25R Frontman Amp

Nothing amazing, but pretty good for a beginner if you ask me. I'm currently saving up for a tuner, metronome, and a distortion pedal. I'll probably hold off on the distortion pedal until I get more into it.

Anyone else play guitar? And any tips/good exercises for beginners?

*EDIT* I don't know why the picture won't work :(

Here's links..

My Guitar-
Buy Schecter Omen 6 Electric Guitar online at Guitar Center (mine is black, though)

My Amp-Buy Fender 25R Frontman Series II Guitar Combo online at Guitar Center

Bad part is, I probably won't ever get a PS3 now, but I don't care, I have always wanted to get into guitar, and finally am. I'll have 150$ by the end of this summer which will be enough for a decent tuner and metronome, and MABYE a Boss DS-1 distortion pedal. I might save up more though for the Boss Metal Zone distortion pedal, but not sure.

My only advice would be to not repeatedly show the same friend/s your attempt to play Sweet Child O'Mine. They won't be honest and tell you just how horrible it sounds.

Doesn't your amp have an overdrive mode? That will hold you over for now until you get better at playing the guitar. Don't get a distortion pedal until you learn the basics of playing because it will only mess you up furthers from learning quickly.

Not sure, mind clearing up what Overdrive is XD. I don't see an overdrive knob/button on the amp, so I have no idea.

I am also aware I probably sound terribly stupid about Amps right now.

And thanks for the advice, I'll wait on the distortion pedal till I learn he basics. My parents know a guy who lives half an hour away from us who would teach me for free, hes been playing for 20-25 years(Forgot the exact number) and has been in a band for around 15 years.

Oh, just to put this out there, everyone feel free to post your guitars, techniques, etc.

I play guitar, kinda. I know the basic chords, learned them in school.

In my pictures for the "Post Your Gaming Setup" thread, you can see my old strat, but I don't use it anymore. I got a nicer one now. It is an Epiphone Les Paul Zakk Wylde Custom. I played the Gibson one at the shop that costs $8,000 and mine sounds the same for one tenth the price, although I bought it on eBay for $450. My camera doesn't work right now, so I can't get pictures. You are gonna have to deal with stock photos.

I bought my first guitar last week too although mine is acoustic. I was going to save my money for a PS3 as well but I thought I should get a more constructive hobby in college. Good luck to you as well.

Lemmy used his mom's guitar to get chicks before he could even play one.
