The iPhone... Do you have it? Do you care?

Originally I was pretty excited about the iPhone. As more and more details were revealed, I found myself less and less interested in it.
I had the liberty of seeing one in the flesh a couple weeks ago in Philadelphia. I was amazed by how thin it was, and the pretty screen.
I'm a pretty techie guy, but after years of trying out different phones, I've come to realize that I just want my phone to be a phone.
I've had smart phones, even the one that Lib has (I used it for all of two weeks, PM me Lib if you want to score a second one), and found that I hated using the stylus. I've tried a couple palms. Didn't like those either. I've tried the fancy Verizon Chocolate music phone. Didn't like that either.
The reason I didn't like a lot of these fancy items is because their primary purpose (being a phone), suffered at the cost of their extra features.
I think the iPhone is a great idea, and in another version or two will be a serious contender as opposed to being the new trendy thing to have.
Until then, I'll continue to carry my iPod, and my phone.

I'm surprised this hasn't been posted in here yet.... but:
The iPhone is a piece of ****, and so is your face.

I'm sure some of you already know this, but yesterday, I read a Yahoo article that talked about this kid from New Jersey that actually hacked his i-Phone... here's one of the reports...

He could've bought a TurboSim, and unlocked it for a whopping total of $80 all by himself.

From what I remember reading yesterday, he was able to use any kind of phone "service provider" on the (hacked) iPhone...

When you buy the iPhone, you must use AT&T as a service provider. He made it so you can use all the others too, such as Sprint, etc.
I thought the update that rendered the phone un-usable (for whatever period of time) just about said everything that needs to be said about Apple.

Yeah, I also liked when the security hole was found in the first few days in the phone's opera browser that enabled anyone to gain control and manipulate your phone through a web page.
Apple released a fix within a few days.
Says a lot about Apple.

It actually doesn't work for all carriers, but it'll work for any carrier that uses SIM cards, just like TurboSIM

I don't get it: Is it legal to use this phone on other networks (not for you, but for the other networks)? Also, how much would a plan run you for this phone on another network?
