Why shouldn't the oil companies charge us out the rear for gas? Think about it. The oil companies provide the most reliable service in the entire world. There are no oil shortages like there were in the 70s. No more buying gas on odd days if your license plate ended in an odd number or anything like that. Gas is available whenever we need it. There are no gas recalls. The service they provide to everyone is outrageously efficient. Stop your bitching. Don't want to spend 3-4$ on gas you say? So don't. Make arrangements to use the train if possible. I personally haven't and my family has also not felt the wallet get any lighter because of the "ridiculous increase" in prices and we drive like it's going out of style. People have to realize that if they manage funds properly nothing is as bad as it seems.
    Classic.

I have noticed my wallet getting lighter since the raise in prices. Just the normal drive to work seems to give me less money to do other things. With the drop gas just recently had, i noticed i ended up with a few dollars more than what I had a few weeks ago. Now, only a few dollars you say? That's a lot of money to me, being only 16. (I got my license when I was 15, due to special circumstances.) That few dollars is the difference of being able to afford to go to the movies, or pay my car insurance.

Having those extra "few bucks" usually comes from proper money management. I pay for my gas unless there is an emergency or I don't have enough money (then I use my gas card). For me, gas isn't too much of a problem since I don't commute or drive far to any place. Plus I have two gas tanks, so I can stay on the road longer.

It's all about money management. If you can't afford the gas, then use another mean of transportation (which is cheaper anyways). And like Go Pre said: they provide one of the best services in the world today.

Well you're young and of course you're going to feel it more than say an adult with job that has a set salary. I, as a 19 year old kid, make around ten thousand each year so I don't feel it because I don't have much to worry about besides gas and the movies. See where I am going with this?

Ohh I totally agree. Pre, question for you. Do you happen to live in a city, or somewhere close to a city?

Mag, same for you? You must have public transportation, or something along the lines of that. My ONLY form of transportation is what I provide myself. There is NO form of public transportation around where i live, that could be because I live in the middle of the desert. (Not really, I live in the country). The closest public transportation comes to us is 30 miles away. I like the suggestion, but that wouldn't work.

I live in a small town on the outskirts of a major city. We have buses and light rail all around, but it's region-wide (the whole Bay Area), so even if you live far out, you still get public transportation.

Well...it's been a year since we ran out of gas...society has fallen and I managed to find a computer just so I could post up here and tell them that they were all correct! Why didn't we listen? WHHYY!?!?!?

Or not. As always, it's about fear mongering and spreading discontent. But still, kind of fun to necro this sort of thing now and then.

I remember hearing in mid-2008 that the economis crisis could take 4 years to end, and thinking "my god, thats a long time". Four years later, things have really only gotten worse. The moral of the story is, don't trust predictions, whether they are based 4 weeks, years or millenia from now, because they are nearly always wrong.

Well, think about the positive perspective. We will be in the future because of that :)

Thanks for bumping this 8 year old thread.

Just goes to show how dumb and wrong the news guys can be...in this internet era.

Outrageous headlines just for the hits.
