Worst thing that happened in music

So I saw this thread on another forum and found it pretty interesting and wanted to repost it here. In your opinion what event, action, extc. has harmed the musical industry the most. Go ahead and post generes of music if you like, just keep don't flame eachother.
  • 1) Death of: John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, John Bonham, Freddie Mercury, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain.
  • 2) MTV and pretty much all music videos.
  • 3) Most music of the 80's (particuarly Glam Metal)

Those are the biggest things for me, atleast for now.

I was saying that BET and MTV ruined what rap was. Not that I think Rap ruined music.

Well, even still, my opinion still stands, but I can see what you mean. The media has a way of making things a lot worse than they actually are.

I respect your opinion but how could RUN DMC and LL back in the day ruin music today?

MTV is not a terrible thing to happen to music, it was great at first. Today's MTV is horrible, I agree, they just play more rap and crap reality television shows, but when MTV was more focused on music it wasn't too bad.

way to get cynical.

id have to say, kurt cobains suicide. he was a legend man. and when he killed himself, that was the slow but surely death of rock music. now it all pretty much sounds generic and ******.
