I'm going to come off sounding like an *******, but I don't feel very sympathetic when someone dies in this way. When you're drunk, don't drive. Not only do you risk your life, but the lives (and property) of others. Sure, it's tragic, but had he simply been responsible and not gotten behind the wheel he'd still be alive. It's hard for me to feel sympathy when someone puts OTHERS at risk with their own irresponsibility. Sorry if that offends anyone, that's just my view on the situation. I do feel terrible for the friends and family that are pained by such things, I just find it hard to feel anything for someone that put the lives of others on the line.
As far as friends dying.... just recently a kid I knew died in transit from the skatepark I helped raise $200,000 to build. He fell missing a trick on his bike and went to lie down by his car. A good friend of mine went over to talk to him and found out he wasn't breathing. EMT's responded to the 911 call and got a fleeting pulse and random breaths, but he died before getting to the hospitol.

That was a little tribute, but the cops kept making everyone take pieces down.

one of my best friends died in a head on collision 5 years ago. he had been working a buttload of overtime trying to make all the money he could because he had a kid due within the next 5 months. he left work one night tired as hell and apparently fell asleep at the wheel, crossed 2 lanes of oncoming traffic and ran head on into an 18 wheeler doing 80mph. the car exploded and nate died at some point after that according to the truck driver who couldn't get him out in time.
3 years ago cop friend of mine was killed while off duty trying to help a homeless lady get her basket up a flight of stairs. she thought he was trying to steal her stuff and stabbed him in the leg, she got him in the femoral artery and he bled to death waiting on the paramedics.
back in highschool i knew a guy, not really friends persay, that was crushed to death when he rocked a vending machine over on top of himself. he always was kinda stupid so that one wasn't that big of a shocker.

I do agree with Bob and Punx, but I hardly find this thread as a suitable place to almost mock the dead.
Obviously some of the people in the stories brought it on themselves in one way or another, but I am sure they weren't intending to kill themselves so its still a little sad at least.
I'm not getting on either of you because you make valid points, but "now is not the time" as people like to say.

There was this kid who sat at my lunch table in school. I wasn't a real close friend to him or anything, but I would still consider him my friend. I talked to him, hung out with him a few times, and walked around with him a few times. He would have become a better friend of mine.
He drowned tonight.
16 years of age and is now gone from this earth. Gone from opportunity, gone from his friends, gone from his family. His life was gone just like that. I saw him earlier today. Four hours after I saw him, he got caught in an undercurrent in the Susquehannah river and drowned. Today, graduation, was supposed to be both a somber and celebratory day. As it turns out, it is now more of a somber event.
My condolences go out to his family. I just wish it could be different. I wish he could be back. I wish he didn't die.

Sorry to hear that, Sidewinder.
One of my friends in England almost drowned in a swamp/quick sand walking home from school through the woods. He only survived because the Firefighter Training Center was opposite the entrance to the area and he called 999 (our emergency number) and they got there faster than any other department would have.
Happy note: Congratulations on the graduation.

I know everyone has had a friend die, but with only being 18 years old, it amazes me that he made this choice.

All my condolences. I saw this on the news, as I live by you (Flushing). I have never had a friend die, so I really wouldn't know what it is like to go threw that. I wish the best of luck to you and his family.

Sorry for everyone's losses. It's tough when you lose a loved one, and it hurts twice as bad when poor judgement is to blame.

People are always drowning in that river, it runs through right by me, outside of Harrisburg, PA.
