The bias against PS3

It's funny to hear PS3 owners complaining about xbox "fanboys". Keep in mind you yourselves are most likely PS3 "fanboys". Anyone arguing that their console is better can most likely consider themselves one.

Yes, I have a 360, and no I will never buy a PS3, but I don't hold a biased view of either console.

And just to comment on a few points brought up in here:

The 360 has the true overheating problem.

People leave PS3s on for months without turning them off. From constantly playing them, and the remainder of the time it is Folding. No problems there.

You can't leave a 360 on for a day.

??? Are you sure. I left my 360 on for 12+ hours yesterday and it didn't even get warm. Please don't make generalizations and try to turn them into facts concerning every 360 out there. You make yourself look like a "fanboy". The fact is, SOME 360s have overheating problems IF NOT PROPERLY VENTILATED. I doubt any console, given enough "breathing room" would overheat, whether it be a 360 or PS3.

And you know this how? You talk about the PS2 still selling to the 360s levels, which are all ahead of the PS3, but somehow it's going to magically turn around for the PS3? I see everything being pretty much even as the years pass. If the PS2 can match the 360, then the 360 can easily match the underachieving PS3 right now.

While I was over at gametrailers, someone made a really good point. He said everyone on xbox 360 wants MGS4 to come to their console, but no hardcore PS3 fans want Halo 3, so whats better?

Refer to RickTheRipper's post below yours. I sure don't want MGS4, but after playing the Halo3 beta, I would want to have it even if I had a PS3. I never even played Halo 1 or 2, so you can't consider me a Halo nerd.

And last but not least:

PS3 does not break alot, it very very rarely breaks, if at all, most PS3s, even the launch ones are flawless.

Just give it time. All consoles are going to have their problems. PS3s might not be having too many problems yet, but even the launch PS3s have only been out ~6 months. When you're talking about the 360 problems, you have to remember they've been out for over a year and a half. Not trying to bash consoles, but wait another year, and then we'll see how PS3s continue to fare as far as breaking, longevity, etc. Until then, I dont think you can accurately judge the reliability between the two.

Considering I have a 360 and am pissed off by the piss poor quality of this heaping hunk of plastic. I like some of the games (No good games have came out for months), but the system and the company piss me off. I enjoy the games, online system is good, just the quality of the system is just............bad.

Yah, beacause 12 hours=a day. And what I said about overheating in a day does not apply to every 360, but there has been several, I mean, A LOT, of reports of the 360 overheating, so there really is no denying that it does. Also the fact that you said you left your 360 on for 12+ hours and it didn't get warm is obviously a lie. If you said it didnt get HOT! There would of been a better chance of believing you. (If you are reffering to leaving it on without playing a game, that is more understandable, but, a gaming system is for playing games, and when overheats when playing games for a decent amount of time, there is a problem)

I do recall the PS2 selling LESS then the PS3 in the same time frame after launch, and um....yah, look how many sales they have now. The games sold the system, and guess what, all of the good games are coming out 2008 and a large handful of them in fall/winter 07.

The fact that almost everyones PS3s havn't gotten one error as of yet within a 6 month period is a good thing. You also said the 360 has problems because it has been out for a year and half, and that is sad, BECAUSE THEY HAVE BEEN HAPPENING SINCE LAUNCH! It doesn't take a year and a half for a 360 to break, if you have a really faulty one it will last about a week and a half, which there are a lot of those going around, but if you get lucky you can get one that lasts a year, OH GOODIE! It is like gambling, it could break ANY second you never know when it is going to come.

And underachieving PS3??? Compare the 360 at 6 months to the PS3 at 6 months and see which one is better. 360 has had several updates already to improve things they did wrong, while, PS3 will be releasing 2.0 update here soon and it pretty much includes several similiar things, and even better things then the 360. The consoles will constantly expand, so you can't really compare the different things you could do on it when one has a year ahead of the other one. Although I think the PS3 is progressing a lot faster then the 360 did at 6 months.


But just to let you know, I do have a 360, I enjoy play some of the games, even though all I use it for now is UMK3. But it has some good games coming out this year. But the quality of the console is just bad. If mine breaks I wont be able to play a full game for another 3 months, while microsoft keeps sending it back and forth, back and forth, and barely doing anything to it, until they finally send a new one.

Yes, you're somewhat correct. I did not play for 12 hours straight. If that were the case, I would almost hope my 360 broke on me because that means I need to get out more. I DO play for 3-4 hours, taking a break and playing a little more later in the night, but my 360 is on the entire time, downloading demos, videos, etc.

My basement is a cool 69 degrees. After a 2.5 hour clan match last night on COD3, the air coming out of the exhaust port was not even warm. I don't even know why we're even arguing about this, but I don't like people calling me a liar. Please come over, we'll play some split screen COD3, and I'll show you.


To get back on topic a little, all I hear from my PS3 owning friends is how superior the PS3 is to the 360, and I'm sure that's what you guys get in return. Keep in mind there are many more 360 owners than PS3 owners at this point, so could that be where this is coming from?

Ha thats hilarious, i hear from all my 360 owning friends that ps3 is garbage... its just frustruating how there can be so much hate between systems, personaly i prefer the Ps3, due to the fact i bought a ps2 when it came out and loved it, never looked back. Where as some of my friends never did get the ps2, and went straight to a xbox, and that

The competive nature between the systems should definatly stick around, just due to what happens when people compete, things get better, people strive for that extra pixle in the face of the character to make him that much realistic looking... BUT we should lose the so called 'fanboy' state of thought, where we constantly bash the other system. I think when you really look at it, both systems are bloody amazing, does any one remember a little tiny system known as Nintendo? not Super NES i mean nindendo... thats right, i went there, i still got mine, runs fine by the way. but anyways, look how far both sony, and microsoft have come from back in the 'Gaming Dark Ages' (yes i know Sony, nor microsoft had a system back in the day, but they had to start somewhere right?) I think we should embrace both the 360 and Ps3, i dont mean stop competing all togeather because as i said before, thats what got us where we are now. But keep it clean, dont bash the other system, just find a way to better your own. Thats my 2 cents, oh and i aplogize for the vast spelling mistakes.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. People like their own systems, and since there are more 360 owners, of course it's going to seem as if there's a bias.
